“The Graces demands to be read twice: The first time for the suspense; the second for the subtleties you missed initially.” —The New York Times Book Review Everyone loves the Graces. Fenrin, Thalia, and Summer Grace are attractive, rich, and glamorous, and they’ve cast a spell over their high school—and their entire town. They’re also rumored to have powerful connections all over the world. If you’re not in love with one of them, you want to be one of them. This is especially true for River, the new girl at school. River’s different from the rest of the horde that both revere and fear the Grace family. She’s dark, aloof, and just maybe . . . magical. And she wants to be a Grace more than anything. But what the Graces don’t know is that River’s presence in their town is no accident. The first rule of witchcraft is that if you want something bad enough, you can get it . . . no matter who has to pay. “A teenage girl becomes obsessed with a family of reputed witches . . . vivid . . . powerful.” —Kirkus Reviews (starred review) “Eve conjures up an intriguing vision of small-town mystique, with the Grace family depicted as unknowable and otherworldly—the mystery of whether magic is at play hangs over much of the story—and self-involved, obsessive River’s less-than-trustworthy narration adds to the air of uncertainty.” —Publishers Weekly

Grace. Do we really comprehend the implications of that small, one-syllable word? Do we realize how much we have been graced? More importantly, do we understand how God intends us to use that grace throughout the world? Everyone, no matter their location, time of life, or economic circumstances, has been graced greatly by God, and that can be a difficult thing for us to grasp in our more-is-better American culture. We want to believe that we haven't really been graced until we have more of this or enough of that. In this book, Dr. Wallace Webster delves into the mystery of grace. We learn that grace isn't just something conveyed on a favored few; God lavishes it on all of us in ways we may not even realize. We see how those with the least often understand that they have been graced the most. And we learn that we, as citizens of Christ's kingdom, have the great privilege of spreading that grace throughout the world in many amazing ways.

The National Bestseller, Featuring a Brand-New Introduction by Karen Santorum As a mother, Karen Santorum grew frustrated by her inability to find a book of manners that instructed through engaging stories and poems rather than by dull lists of dos and don'ts. She set out to solve the problem. The result is this wonderfully rich and instructive anthology. A national bestseller, Everyday Graces has become a beloved feature in homes, schools, churches, and libraries across America. It speaks to the fact that manners are seldom discussed anymore—and are practiced even less. Good manners are a prerequisite for the growth of moral character; they are the habits of conduct by which we express in the most ordinary circumstances our fundamental respect for others, whether parents, friends, colleagues, or strangers. Under such headings as "Honor Your Mother and Father," "Please, Thank You, and Other Kind Words," "Be Considerate at the Table," "Good Sportsmanship," and "Respecting Our Country," Everyday Graces gathers stories and poems that will develop and enrich the moral imagination. This marvelous anthology features classic selections from such well-known authors as Hans Christian Andersen, Beatrix Potter, Mark Twain, Frances Hodgson Burnett, C. S. Lewis, Max Lucado, and Arnold Lobel, as well as forgotten gems that deserve a new hearing. Find out why Everyday Graces has struck a chord with tens of thousands of families. Both inviting and informative, this book helps instill good manners in our children—and takes a stand against the decline in civility and the coarsening of our common life.

2002 Catholic Press Association Award Winner The classical expression of soteriology (salvation theology) has tended to spiritualize salvation and place it on a supernatural plane where it loses contact with the existential lives of people. In the face of this heritage, questions have risen from contemporary experience that challenge the Christian tradition. Does life have meaning? Is love at the core of all reality? In Gifted Origins to Graced Fulfillment, Kerrie Hide searches for responses to these questions. Hide examines the soteriology presented in the Revelations of Divine Love, composed by Julian of Norwich. She analyzes the understanding of salvation expressed in the Visions, or showings of Julian and expands previous theological inquiry into Julian's texts. After demonstrating how Julian's theology is a trinitarian theology of love, Hide addresses each aspect of Julian's soteriology within the framework of her trinitarian formula. The theological precis reveals that, for Julian, salvation is a process of oneing in a mystical, three-part journey from our origins with God to our ultimate return to God. Hide's analysis provides a hermeneutic for examining mystical literature theologically and demonstrates the important contribution mystical theology makes to the broader field of theology. She contributes a systematic study of Julian's understanding of salvation not undertaken previously. In Part One, Hide examines Julian's Visionary experience and her expression of the experience that led others to reflect on, record, and write about her texts. She also presents a hermeneutic for interpreting Julian's showings. Part Two presents Julian's soteriology as a trinitarian soteriology of oneing and explores how our life is in three stages. In Part Three, Hide delves into our gifted origins. She surveys Julian's creation theology and her anthropology. Part Four focuses on Christology. This section presents Christ's role in redemption through the cross, through his work as servant, and through his function as mother. Part Five inquires into graced endings. The chapters examine the present experience of graced fulfillment in the power of the Holy Spirit and the hope for fulfillment in the eschaton. Finally, in Part Six, Hide draws together Julian's understanding of salvation. She appraises the relevance of these teachings for today. Chapters are Julian of Norwich," *A Hermeneutic for Interpreting the Showings, - *Oneing Through the Trinity, - *Oneing in Being, - *Oneing Through the Crucifixion, - *Oneing Through the Servant, - *Oneing Through Christ, Deep Wisdom and Mother, - *Oneing Through the Holy Spirit, - *One ing in the Eschaton, - and *Julian's Spiritual Understanding.
