All known combat claims and lossesMany personal accounts and memories of the battleIllustrated with new and rarely seen photographs Brian Cull and Frederick Galea’s definitive Fighters over Malta: Gladiators and Hurricanes 1940-1942 is a highly-detailed account of the gallant band of RAF and Commonwealth pilots who flew in defence of Malta between June 1940 and April 1942, when help in the guise of Spitfires finally arrived. Most of the Hurricanes, which held this tiny outpost of the British Empire in the heart of Axis-dominated territory, had been flown from the decks of aircraft carriers or from bases in North Africa, while a handful of fighter pilots arrived by Sunderland flying boats or other aircraft in transit from the UK via Gibraltar. Many of these pilots were inexperienced and quickly paid the supreme price, particularly when Messerschmitt Bf 109 pilots of the elite 7/JG26 arrived in Sicily in early 1941, and later in the year when JG53 made their presence felt. Important personal diaries and journals have come to light, and these have been widely quoted to provide the atmospheric background and thoughts and hopes of Hurricane pilots who defended Malta. Not all diarists survived, but their impressions provide a fitting tribute to their courage, aspirations and fears. Much of the early period of the air defence of Malta is enhanced by the personal experiences of Flt Lt (then Sgt Plt) James Pickering AFC, who flew Hurricanes with 261 Squadron.

A fascinating personal flashback, Weldon’s account of his service as an artillery officer in Malta, 1939-1943, based on notes made during 1939-1943. “A great deal of this personal narrative was originally jotted down in Malta during intervals between the raids. The remainder has been added, and the whole of it revised, while “On Active Service”. There lie my excuses for any inconsistencies of style the reader may remark and also for the inclusion of certain episodes to the exclusion of others of at least equal importance. So much happened during the four years I lived out there and now, apart from an invaluable page of dry official statistics, I have only my memory to rely on as a guide. So I deemed it better to make the story a personal one and to tell mainly of those matters, whether military, social or dramatic, of which I had intimate knowledge and which would also serve to give a picture of the background to our lives and battles in that isolated little fortress. “At the same time I have long felt that there should be wider knowledge of the part that was played by the Army in Malta and in particular by the Royal Regiment of Artillery and its brother in arms, the Royal Malta Artillery. It was by these men, without hope or relief or rest, that the constant strain of three years of bombing, isolation and blockade was borne. The epics of naval heroism that ensured the provisioning of Malta and the doughty deeds of the Royal Air Force in its defence are justly renowned through the press and official publications alike. This pen of mine is a very inadequate instrument with which to describe the contribution of the Army as a whole at its true worth. The back-breaking jobs, the constant vigils and spirited defence of those magnificent battalions of Infantry need a scribe of their own. Suffice it for me to say that the names of Hal Far and the Devons, Luqa and the West Kents, Ta Kali and the Manchesters, Safi and the Hampshires, the Dockyard and the Cheshires, to mention only some, will forever be indissolubly linked in glory and friendship. “But over half of the garrison were “gunners”—English and Maltese—and it is because I am immensely proud of having had the privilege both of serving in Malta during those stirring times and of being a humble member of the Royal Regiment of Artillery that these pages are written in honour of: “The Gunners in Malta, 1940—1943.”

Medical services have been associated with the military since the days of Ancient Greece. This relationship was essential not only in ensuring the front-line treatment of injuries sustained by soldiers but also to treat the diseases that accompany the disruption in the social circumstances brought on by warfare. The expectation of a military conflict requires the commanders in the field to draw up a military operation plan. This war plan varied according to the defined objectives, often being differently viewed by the combatants on either side of the conflict. There was in addition the aspect of using biological agents as weapons of warfare. There are numerous records of the use of biological weapons in antiquity. It is therefore not surprising that medical personnel played a very important role in battle plans and were generally highly regarded by the commanders and troops these medics serviced.

This book provides the first wide-ranging account of the Maltese economy in the modern era, from colonialism to European Union membership. It sets arguments about growth and development, and the impact and legacy of colonization, against detailed histories of agriculture, manufacturing and trade, and different economic policy regimes. It is based on volumes of newly collected archival evidence and the latest thinking in economic history. By extending coverage up to the present, the book explains how one of the world's smallest nation-states achieved lasting economic development, quintupling its per capita income level since 1970, when many other postcolonial and advanced economies stagnated.

(Spring 2010) This historical novel finds President Reagan at odds with his daughter, Vice President, White House Staff and Cabinet as Ronnie and Nancy try to do the best acting of their lives to leave the White House, alive. (unabridged edition) Our most loved and hated President after Kennedy and before Obama, Ronnie struggles to defeat the ‘Evil Empire’ and not lose his mind to Alzheimer’s dementia. Can he still trust Bill Casey and George Bush, George Shultz, Selwa Roosevelt and Mike Deaver? Can Ronnie find out who's pulling his strings? A fervent anti-Communist and Nazi hater praised by his wife Nancy and ultra-conservatives, groomed by Bechtel Corporation since 1950 and sold StarWars by Dick Cheney and Paul Nitze during the most scandal-ridden presidency in American history, daughter Patti, college students and flower children despised Reagan for supporting the Vietnam War and Contra death squads and felt the Reagan-Bush Administration was run by Nazis. As it turns out, it was. This historical novel documents the foreign policy, national security and monetary policies of the Reagan-Bush Administration were run by Nazis thru the life of character Reinhard Gehlen, Hitler’s chief of Foreign Armies East intelligence, whom Dulles hired to run and train CIA as Freikorps Nazi deathsquad torturers, terrorists and assassins who then trained the Contras ...that Gehlen was later handled by Bill Casey (Ronnie's campaign manager) then George Bush (Ronnie's vice president) to fight, exaggerate and invent the Cold War in order to capture the Russian Baku oil fields. Based on autobiographies of the Reagan family, Cabinet, and White House Staff, the 650-page book includes a 250-page epilog of documentation and a 50-pg researchers' index, footnotes, and an extensive appendix including charts from: Staff Report, Committee on Banking, Currency & Housing, House of Representatives, 94th Congress, 2d session, Aug. 1976 -- Federal Reserve Directors, a Study of Corporate & Banking Influence. The charts trace from 1913 to present the family dynasties of the private owners and interlocking directorate of the Federal Reserve Bank and other G-8 central banks (the World Order and New World Order) whom Bill Casey, George Shultz, the Bushes, bin Ladens, Thyssens, Rockefellers, Rothschilds, Browns, Harrimans and Reinhard Gehlen worked for and against whose family ancestors the American Revolution was fought and whose family decendents today continue to dominate the financial, political, economic, and bailout and foreclosure landscape with financial terrorism. Additionally, the historical novel follows the family dynasties of the private owners of the interlocking directorate of the Fed/G8 including Bank of England and Bundesbank and other central banks involved in the American Revolution of 1776, the American Civil War, the depressions in the late 1800s and early 1900s, the founding of the privately owned Federal Reserve Bank in 1913, WWI, the financing of the Bolshevik party from New York and thru Ruskombank which supplied U.S. technology and weapons and military vehicles to communist Russia who supplied them to the Viet Cong to kill Americans. Appendices also document the previously hypothesized money-issuing class that prints and owns our money that rules the upper class, middle class, working class, and unemployed classes. The appendix also includes documentation of the Clinton-era involvement with HUD corruption when Bill was Governor and Hillary was a HUD attorney. HUD sold billions of dollars of foreclosed properties in East L.A. at ten cents on the dollar to the Fed-founded Dillion-Read bank. Ronnie was advised about the marriage of the oil and illegal drug industries, and the case by the European Union and Central and South American countries against Reynolds Tobacco for laundering heroin and cocaine profits with Camel Cigarettes.
