Charles Pinkney Goad, son of Alex and Jane Henderson Goad, was born 12 February 1838 in Madison County, Arkansas. He married Martha Ellis Ray, daughter of Samuel Ray, Sr. and Elsie Combs Ray on 23 September 1863 in Madison County, Arkansas. He was serving in the Union Army at the time. Martha was born 22 April 1844 in Greene county, Arkansas. After Charles was discharged from military service, they lived in Arkansas, Missouri, Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, finally returning to Comanche county, Oklahoma in 1907. Charles P. Goad died 1 August 1914 at the home of his youngest daughter Mrs. Rosa Holder near Apache, Oklahoma. "The next day he was laid to rest in the Mission cemetery about eight miles southwest of Apache ... "--P. 11. Martha Ray Goad died in Shawnee, Oklahoma on 31 December 1940 and was buried in Fairview cemetery. Descendants and relatives lived in Oklahoma, Missouri, Tennessee, California, Wyoming and elsewhere.
