This is a book written to remind today's drivers of how careless we have become while driving our vehicles and the pitfalls many of us have fallen into. Lack of courtesy, basic driving knowledge, and common sense are some of the issues that contribute to the frustrations of driving on the road today. The author has used interesting personal examples, wit and humor to illustrate some of the traits we exhibit, both good and bad, while driving a vehicle. He then makes bold recommendations on how to apply common sense in making our driving experiences safer, more efficient and more fun. Numerous pictures and illustrations help the reader to visualize scenes from their own driving experiences to which they can relate. Cool Tips for Better Driving and a fictitious The Perfect Drive round out the excellent reading. A must read for all drivers from 16 to 96 years old.

If you think living with one foot in the streets and the other in the business world is simple, just ask Tyrone Philpott. A self-made hustler from rural Virginia, Tyrone is on an intense paper chase that threatens to take away what he cherishes most; life with his soon-to-be baby's mother, Telina. Well aware that he's playing with fire, Tyrone knows he has to give up a big part of his hustle in order to save his struggling relationship, but that union takes a backseat when he realizes what he wanted all along was right in front of him. Tina, Tyrone's sexy and sassy side-piece, is a round-the-way girl who has no problem keeping her mouth closed about a few secrets that could disrupt Tyrone's life and open up a few doors for her. With all the baby's momma drama, Tina pushing her way into his heart, and his hustle being cut short, you'd assume Tyrone was being pushed hard enough. Yet it wasn't until that last nudge that he decided to go forward by taking a step back and handing over the reins to his protege. It's then that The Left Lane hits a winding curve."

Driving is a fact of life. We are all spending more and more time on the road, and traffic is an issue we face everyday. This book will make you think about it in a whole new light. We have always had a passion for cars and driving. Now Traffic offers us an exceptionally rich understanding of that passion. Vanderbilt explains why traffic jams form, outlines the unintended consequences of our attempts to engineer safety and even identifies the most common mistakes drivers make in parking lots. Based on exhaustive research and interviews with driving experts and traffic officials around the globe, Traffic gets under the hood of the quotidian activity of driving to uncover the surprisingly complex web of physical, psychological and technical factors that explain how traffic works.

Life in the Left Lane is a short and lively nonfiction book about what its really like for expatriates to live in a tropical island paradise. Written by a journalist who has lived in the islands for more than thirty-five years, it is an honest, affectionate and humorous report on all aspects of the adventure, from adjusting to island time to making a living, building a dream house and coping with hurricanes. Her vivid descriptions of carnival, the Creole language, gardening and island food, and her insightful observations about minority status, politics, religion and crime, are enlightening reading for anyone curious about life in the Caribbean. The author writes about the islands in general, but specifically her island of St. Croix in the United States Virgin Islands, where driving in the left lane in cars designed to drive on the right is but one of the idiosyncrasies of quirky island style.

Driverthink is not just another "Go Slow" Safe Driving guidebook. Within its pages are reality based driving tips, ideas and suggestions that can literally save your life For too long, the focus on safe driving has been to expound "Politically Correct" driving concepts that simply don't take into account the Reality of driving a vehicle at high speed on modern roads and highways. Otherwise responsible people don't suddenly shed their responsibility when they slip behind the wheel. But they don't often really think about their driving either. Thus the title "Driverthink." In order to be responsible, safe drivers, we need to think about our driving. We need to know our machines, know our limitations, maximize our driving skills and gain driving experience as quickly as possible. Driverthink breaks new ground by exploring each of these areas in lively, entertaining detail. Drive Fast or Drive Slow - but "Driverthink" when you drive Driverthink is a collection of articles from the popular blog of the same name. Written in a lively and entertaining style, each of the articles explore specific driving situations or issues in detail, offering driving tips, ideas and suggestions on how to deal with the different situations. Driverthink is an excellent review for the seasoned driver and a must read for the newer, less experienced driver. Driverthink would suggest that Speed may kill, but unskilled driving can definitely kill. Does the average driver even know what over steer or under steer are? Do they know what kind of rear suspension they're driving on? Do they really understand how these most basic driving concepts will affect the handling of their vehicles - especially in an emergency situation? Driving on our roads and highways must be about reality. It is dealing with that reality that will keep us alive. Following "standard issue," politically correct advice offered by those with limited skills and no appreciation for the realities of driving, simply doesn't create safer driving. "Just Slow Down," might not be the best advice on a highway where even the slow lanes are doing limit plus ten. High speed rear end accidents can really ruin the day and excessively slow driving will most surely restrict traffic flow. Perhaps it's not the best advice after all Driverthink is a most serious effort by the author, to start really saving lives on our Highways and Byways. It will help you to become a much safer "Driverthink" driver It may even save your life.

Driving While Blind took me nearly 10 years to write, as I am not a writer by profession. I simply feel that the message needs to be available to our young drivers. I started this when two of my daughter's High School classmates were killed in a crash. That incident made me think that we, as adults and parents, need to do a better job of teaching our kids how to drive. Driving While Blind is a quick, easy and informative read that I tried to write with a bit of levity...based on my own personal experiences as a road warrior. I have driven somewhere near, or just over a million miles and I've done that completely crash free! I have also been in the automotive industry for most of my adult life, this has given me the opportunity to be trained by professional SCCA drivers on several occasions. What makes me qualified to write this book? Nothing...and everything. Hopefully, by writing this book, I will ultimately save lives....if I save just one, well then, I have been a complete success! Happy & Safe Motoring!

“Once he met her, it was and always would be Lyla.” They were the gentlemen bad boys of rock. Forming in a garage in a small town in Indiana. Taking their licks on the road. Going balls to the wall until they made their big break. And then Preacher McCade and the Roadmasters redefined rock and roll. Guided by their tortured lead singer and songwriter, the Roadmasters changed the face of music in the 80s and 90s. And on their journey to becoming one of the most enduring bands in history—dogged by rumors and myth and fueled by drugs and booze—the Roadmasters had one touchstone. Lyla. Preacher’s muse, the love of his life, and the band’s moral compass, from the beginning, Lyla is along for the ride. But with fame and acclaim in their grasp, they’ve entered the fast lane. And they didn’t know it, but they were headed for a crash.
