His fathers death prompted him to preserve his family memories for his descendents, but the writing quickly grew into a life essay on farm life, Southern cooking, dogs, small-town life in the 1950s, and the demise of our current culture. The book is written in the authors voice and evokes feelings of Sams, Grizzard, and Rooney. He believes our culture is being slowly destroyed from within by small dogs, cats, bad barbecue, kudzu, fat-free ice cream, cell phones, e-mail, the Internet, childproof lids, hard plastic security packaging, iPods, video players in automobiles, kids not being raised right, rudeness, fast food, moms who dont cook, high school graduates who cant read, long-winded preachers, the disappearance of real Southern cooking, and the popularity of instant grits, Diet Pepsi, and unsweetened tea. His familys history is a goldmine of great food, quirky characters, outlandish actions, and bodacious behavior; he has mined it shamelessly and offers no apologies.

In November 2010, I was approached by a traditional aboriginal healer who said he had a message for me. This encounter would lead me down a path of fear, manipulation, and warped spiritual guidance. This book chronicles my life journey as an Aboriginal from the Mikmaq nation, from growing up on a Canadian reserve mired in poverty and family violence and deeply rooted in the Catholic Faith, to reconciling my guilt and shame for all I had done and overcoming an introduction to spirituality based on fear and the punitive. Finally, it provides a narrative of my own spiritual development, including the loving guidance and intuitive messages I received from spirit, and the ultimate triumph of healing, love, and forgiveness. [The healer] said he had had a dreama vision, and it wasnt good. It concerned our boys. He said he saw a white work van with dark windows and somebody grabbing and kidnapping my boys

From first picking up a guitar, to writing songs and discovering a connection to the universal source of creativity, Uncertain Heaven is a rock 'n roll memoir that tells the story of one man's creative path, a journey that becomes inextricably intertwined with a search for the meaning of our existence and mankind's relationship with God. A story of record deals, songs heard by billions on syndicated television shows, the highs and lows of an indifferent music industry, the painful reality of playing 'music-by-the-yard' and the sheer joy of putting your finger up into the ethos and downloading a song - just like Keith Richards. After years of following the muse wherever she leads, an existential crisis leads the author to peel back the mysteries of life itself, follow what surely seems meant to be, only to find himself standing on the precipice at his own potential demise.

The reasons for me writing this book are many. One of the main reasons is that too many of my friends have died due to people not paying attention to what they were doing. In the process, my friends died young and never had a chance to live their lives fully. Life isn’t something you should put on the back burner, for life is too precious to miss anything. The hope for my first short story is to stop most, if not all of these accidents from happening so people never have to die out of their on foolishness. The other reason is about the second short story. A lot of my friends including me wanted to give up when life knocked us down. The thing none of us realized at the time was, if we did give up then the darkness finally consumed us and we lost. We didn’t do anything stupid because we had our families and each other to push us through our hard times. My hope for this short story is for everyone to learn is that you should never give up when life is hard. Don’t let it knock you down into oblivion. Get back up and fight off these blankets of darkness that threaten to engulf us. Thank you for reading. God bless.
