Excerpt from Genealogical and Personal Memoirs Relating to the Families of the State of Massachusetts, Vol. 4 Macy William's company, 1775, and in Captain James Perry's company, Sixteenth Regiment, 1776. He deeded land in Hardwick to Will iam Oakes. This land had been conveyed to him by deed of Seth Gilbert, November 21, 1777. Seth also deeded land in the west part Of Hardwick to Timothy, June 7, 1785. Timo thy gave some Of the Hardwick land to his son Joseph by deed dated August 14, 1808. Timo thy's will was dated April 22, 1817, and filed January 3, 1826. He bequeathed to children, Timothy, Charles, Lemuel, William, Joseph (deceased); grandchildren Fanny, Jonathan and \villiam Collins, children of his daughter Patty; the heirs of Seth Pebbles by his wife Rhoda; children of daughter Polly by Ebenezer Collins; all his Greenwich property to his son John and some in Hardwick. He disposed of what he was to receive from the estate of his brother Lemuel, mentioned above. He married, April, 1771, Martha Rogers, born at Willing ton, Connecticut, March 7, 1747, died at Hard wick, January 30, 1824. He died February 1, 1825. Children, born in Hardwick: 1. Timo thy, March 13, 1772; mentioned below. 2. Charles, April 6, 1773; married (intentions dated February 25, 1790) Lydia Warner. 3. Joseph, May 1, 1774. 4. Mary, baptised December 19. 1645; married. Xovembcr 5, 1666, James Tisdale, of Taunton, and resided in that part of Middleboro which is now Lakeville, where she died September 9, 1713. The death of her husband occurred January 15, 1715, aged seventy-one. They had one daughter, Mercy, born May 3, 1676. 2. William, baptised October 27, 1047. 3. Robert, see next paragraph. 4. Jonathan, born in Dedham, May 26, 1653. 5. Rachel, born in Dedham, September 20, 1657. 6. Hannah, born in Dedham, September 27, 1660. 7. Ebenezer, born in Dedham, November 24, 1663; died prior to 1683. (III) Ensign Robert, son of Dr. William Avery, was born in Barkham, and baptised there December 7, 1649. He was a blacksmith, residing in Dedham, and died there October 3, 1722. When twenty-seven years old he married Elizabeth, daughter of Job and Sarah Lane, of Maiden, the former of whom was a man of prominence and a representative to the general court. Children of Ensign Robert and Elizabeth (Lane) Avery: I. Elizabeth, born December 21. 1677. 2. Rachel, born 1679. 3. Robert, born 1681, accidentally killed by a falling tree, August 21, 1723. 4. Mrs. Elizabeth Avery died in 1746, leaving beside five of her children, thirty grandchildren, fifty-two great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. (IV) Rev. Haliburton Fales, son of Samuel and Abigail Haliburton Fales, was born 5 February 1815 in Boston, Massachusetts. On 8 April 1847 he married Elizabeth Jane Beal, daughter of Joseph and Margaret McDowell Beal of Philadelphia. The will of Haliburton Fales was probated in Boston, Massachusetts on 7 April 1873. Ancestor James Fales emigrated from England and was settled in Dedham, Massachusetts as early as 1651. He married Anne Brock, daughter of Henry and Elizabeth Brock of Dedham, on 28 July 1655. James died at Dedham 10 July 1708. Descendants lived in Massachusetts, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and elsewhere.
