While at Marietta, Ohio, about the year 1889, I attended an Annual Conference of the Methodist Episcopal Church, and they were electing delegates to the Ecumenical Conference at London, England. Many of the members of the Conference were vigorously campaigning for Hon. Mills Gardner, of Washington C. H., Ohio.
