Forever April: Mac FletcherSynopsisFollowing his mother's apparent suicide, thirteen-year-old Rick escapes from care to search for his alleged father, one-time rock star Paddy Benton. Rick wants to prove his mother was murdered, but he is abducted whilst on the run. Paddy, an alcoholic, has never acknowledged any connection with Rick, though his employees, Eddy and Mack, set out to find the youth. In doing so they uncover tenuous links between Rick's mother, Julie, and a dark world of murder and racial hatred. Whilst still in rehab, Paddy is at last persuaded that Rick is his son, though his sobriety is threatened on learning that the boy may be seriously ill. Then, by chance, Paddy learns that Julie was murdered, and determines to prove so for Rick's sake.Although there's little doubt as to who's responsible for the deaths, it seems the guilty parties will escape justice. Eddy and Mack have ideas, but Paddy, having regained his self-worth, has also formulated a plan...EDITORIAL REVIEW BY MOLLY MARTIN: http: //www.angelfire.com/ok4/mollymartin/Fletcher.htmlForever AprilMac FletcherLondon Circle PublishingHIGHLY RECOMMENDED 5 StarsFollowing the death of his mother, young Richy finds himself placed in a living situation that is not at all to his liking. The thirteen year old is convinced that his mother has been murdered. He has his suspicions and is intent upon gathering the 'evidence' that will prove his case. Finding himself at odds with the care placement he has been sent to Richy sets out to locate the man he believes to be his father only to discover he has left one bad situation for one that is even worse. Richy is abducted, released, startled to realize the band who were holding him have been murdered and becomes the focus of those who do want to help him. Richy, filled with the angst as besets all kids his age, is caught up in a near baffling web of puzzlement, retaliation, and dying before he comes to realize the truth behind the cause of the death of his mother."The visitor, his work done, slipped as silently as a phantom into the lounge. He shook a slip of paper from a polyethylene folder onto the table, glided through to the passageway, pulling the self-locking door to with a gloved hand . . . and was gone." B-r-r-r-r! Writer Fletcher sets the tone for chills in this well crafted tale filled with conundrum, kidnapping, assassination and racial undercurrents. Exhibiting much of the same dedication to detail found in David Furlotte's 'Contract For Deceit' along with the heart pounding drama of a William Manchee novel, writer Fletcher has produced a well written, intricate tale full of twists and turns and red herrings galore. Fletcher's work is filled with believable characters, some are downright frightening in their exhibition of machination. The reader is caught up in the story from the outset and carried forward on a bumpy ride filled with lots of suspense, complicity and just plain good reading.Keep the lights on and doors locked tight

April is pluck, prink and plumelets. April is an intellectual colossus who travels with a shotgun under her dress. Marriage to April is like the beauty of pure math ... or like juggling bricks in a hurricane. April is a pearl of a girl, mother and daughter, lover and beloved. April has spit. April is A Developing Story. In his newest collection of poetry, Leon Rooke, author of Hot Poppies, A Good Baby and the Governor General’s Award-winning novel Shakespeare’s Dog, presents a collection of poems about the beguiling, inimitable April. Adopting a variety of distinctive perspectives of her life, her loves and her losses, he builds a picture of his irrepressible heroine and the follies and foibles of the lives through which she passes. Rooke’s poems challenge and amuse, stimulating the senses and subverting expectations. His inventive language and imagery, and his cast of delightfully idiosyncratic characters, allow him to hold up a mirror to society and expose the planes and angles of humanity, all the bumps and hollows of it.
