This plan implements the Water Resource (Fitzroy Basin) Plan 2011. The draft amendment provides for the conversion of authorisations to unsupplemented water allocations in the Lower Callide groundwater sub-area. It aims to address a long standing over-allocation issue for the groundwater resources of the Callide Valley by implementing a reduced entitlement regime that recognises each entitlement holder's enterprise dependency on water, protects their existing infrastructure investments, and accounts for the local availability of water.
