"William B. Luke is the first Luke that the author has been able to tie into the Luke family. He is found in the 1800 Census of South Carolina. The Lukes later are found in Georgia in various counties. Alexander Luke petitioned for land in Berkley and Craven counties of South Carolina. Andrew and Jacob Luke were also in Edgefield County, South Carolina. There is no known proof of how they all tie in together. A John Luke was granted property in S.C. in 1840. Nothing else is known about William B. Luke"--P. 19.
