Scads of books and articles have been written about feeding dogs, and yet myths and misconceptions about how to feed dogs abound. Perhaps the most pernicious is that it's beyond the ability of the average person to do it well. I hear this concern often from dog owners who'd like to be making their dog's food but are too afraid to even try, for fear of getting it wrong. Let me relieve you of that notion right now. Feeding dogs well is not rocket science. If it were, then dogs would have died out long ago. You don't need a degree in nutrition to feed yourself and your family well. The same is true about feeding your dog. You simply need to understand a few basic principles, and go from there. Given how much information is available already, I thought what might be most useful is for me to tell you how I feed my own dog, The Splendid Miss Tiger Lilly.

In Drifted Back in Time, follow the story of nineteenth-century love as it crosses the boundaries of race and class. Emily, a young slave, is purchased by the loving Hoover family, who raise her as part of the family. But is she prepared for the expectations made upon her by both Master Hoover and Madam Hoover? Will she be able to provide a future for her children, a future that enables each to decide whether to pass for white or be true to themselves and their heritage? This story of love and sacrifice is told through the eyes of Tyara Nordstrom, a descendent plagued by the nightmares of her familys past who journeys back to learn the truth of her origins, ultimately forced to face her own fears. Drifted Back in Time presents a unique perspective of life in the nineteenth century, when one drop of blood could condemn you to a life of servitude

This idea of mine, to write a book, has long been on the back burner of my mind. I think of this book as life lessons learned from my experiences, some good, some not so good. What seems to prove true is that love and faith will get us through many a challenge. It was easier to present this work in a journal-like format, straight- forward and truthful. I have been blessed with the passage of enough time to see the humor in some of my experiences. Detroit is a good place to be from. I grew up in Detroit when it was a beautiful, lively, and interesting city. I am a product of its educational system, Kindergarten through Wayne State University, Masters Program. Motown flourished and so did I! I was there until the beginning of the end. After losing my brother, stepfather, and husband in Detroit I escaped to Los Angeles, California. I continued my career as a special education teacher in Los Angeles and later in Las Vegas. In 2002 I retired after 40 years of teaching. Now in 2011 at 71 years of age I have found a new passion!
