The final volume of this most elegant of FABLES spin-offs is here! Rose Red reigns over a New Camelot, while Snow White hunts for the soul of her slain husband, Bigby Wolf. Yes, it’s a wild time for the Fables...the ones who look human, that is. Their four-legged, furry, finned, feathered and flowery fellows, however, are all stuck twiddling their appendages on the Farm—a fate that stinks worse than fertilizer. All except Reynard, of course. That wily fox has finagled his way into Rose Red’s service as one of New Camelot’s knights, complete with a glamour—a magic spell that enables him to take on human form at will. His tall tales of derring-do might be a lot of hot air, but they’re sparking a small-scale rebellion on the Farm as the cooped-up inhabitants agitate for glamours of their own. The answer can be found in THE CLAMOUR FOR GLAMOUR—collecting FAIREST #27-33 and lovingly crafted by Mark Buckingham, Bill Willingham, Russ Braun and Meghan Hetrick!

This celebrated collection of sketches sparkles with Stephen Leacock’s humour and shines with the warmth of his wit. The comical E.P., star of the title essay, “My Remarkable Uncle,” is a classic Leacock character. He is president of a railway with a letterhead but no rails, and he heads a bank that boasts credit but no cash whatsoever – all of which trouble E.P. not in the least. My Remarkable Uncle, a wonderful smorgasbord of mirth served up by a master of comedy, includes several essays, a short story, a political parable, and personal reflections on a dizzying array of subjects. Here, in rich abundance, are the inspired nonsense and the unerring eye for human folly that have made Stephen Leacock Canada’s most celebrated humorist.

Formation of Character is the fifth volume of Charlotte Mason's Homeschooling series. The chapters stand alone and are valuable to parents of children of all ages. Part I includes case studies of children (and adults) who cured themselves of bad habits. Part II is a series of reflections on subjects including both schooling and vacations (or "stay-cations" as we now call them). Part III covers various aspects of home schooling, with a special section detailing the things that Charlotte Mason thought were important to teach to girls in particular. Part IV consists of examples of how education affected outcome of character in famous writers of her day. Charlotte Mason was a late nineteenth-century British educator whose ideas were far ahead of her time. She believed that children are born persons worthy of respect, rather than blank slates, and that it was better to feed their growing minds with living literature and vital ideas and knowledge, rather than dry facts and knowledge filtered and pre-digested by the teacher. Her method of education, still used by some private schools and many homeschooling families, is gentle and flexible, especially with younger children, and includes first-hand exposure to great and noble ideas through books in each school subject, conveying wonder and arousing curiosity, and through reflection upon great art, music, and poetry; nature observation as the primary means of early science teaching; use of manipulatives and real-life application to understand mathematical concepts and learning to reason, rather than rote memorization and working endless sums; and an emphasis on character and on cultivating and maintaining good personal habits. Schooling is teacher-directed, not child-led, but school time should be short enough to allow students free time to play and to pursue their own worthy interests such as handicrafts. Traditional Charlotte Mason schooling is firmly based on Christianity, although the method is also used successfully by s

The short graphic fiction collected here all originates with the four process colors of comics printing, but where they go from there is as unbounded as imagination itself. In these pages, the glacial glow of cyan bathes alien worlds and wintry city streets; the vivid splash of magenta highlights the hair of outcasts and the evil of demons; the bright light of yellow shines on old worlds ending and new lives beginning; and the enveloping void of black offers both despair and liberation. The stunning stories and breathtaking visions of CMYK will forever color your perception of what comics can do! Featuring work by Gene Luen Yang, Jeff Lemire, Gerard Way, Amy Chu, Jock, Fabio Moon, Francesco Francavilla, Bill Sienkiewicz and many more! In 2002, Vertigo/DC Comics published the first issue of Bill Willingham's Fables. The series imagined the lives of fairy tale figures--Snow White, the Big Bad Wolf, Cinderella and the ubiquitous Prince Charming, among many others--as they made new lives for themselves in modern-day New York City, having fled their storied homeworlds following an invasion. After 150 issues and many awards, Fables concluded its run in July 2015. This study, the first about the sprawling, complex series, discusses such topics as Fables' status as a contemporary adaptation of folk and fairy tales; its use of conventional genres like sword-and-sorcery, crime and romance; its portrayal of social and political relationships; and its self-referential moments. Providing a detailed introduction to the themes and ideas in the series, the author explores how Fables portrays redemption, the function of community, and how our hopes and fears influence our ideal of "happily ever after."
