Be it resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the State of South Carolina, now met and sitting in General Assembly, and by the authority of the same, That a Committee, consisting of two members of the Senate and five members of the House, is hereby created and empowered to proceed, during the recess, to thoroughly investigate the disordered state of affairs in the Third Congressional District, and the causes of the intimidation, outrages and murders perpetrated preced ing and at the late general election, whereby it is stated that a fair and unbiased expression of the people's choice could not, and was not, given.
