Elizabeth Agassiz was writing to add or correct some details featured in an article about her late husband, Professor Louis Agassiz, and mentioned that she was enclosing an autograph letter by him, "having chosen one which would be interesting, I think, for a collection." The particular article and letter she mentions have not been further identified. Accompanying Elizabeth Agassiz's letter in the folder is an article excerpted from the Harvard register, January 1881, pages 13-17, entitled "Louis Agassiz and his friends" by Julius H. Ward, with a small printed portrait of Agassiz excerpted from a different, unidentified source.
