Poetry from 8th grade through the recent events at Sandy Hook. Various themes and styles. I did not include the 4th grade poem called, "Spring," but perhaps I should, now. Spring spring, what a wonderful thing, nature faces, the human races, we sing, just like spring. I promise some of the others will be better. That was my first attempt at poetry when I was nine or ten. Many many moons ago. In High School, I wrote "Frogs." Frogs can't dance; Frogs can't play; Frogs go to France, and become Frogs Legs.

Authored by Madisen Kuhn // Illustrated by Laura SupnikEighteen Years is a collection of 220+ poems. Madisen Kuhn, popularly known as m.k., writes honestly and personally about the thoughts and feelings that come with finding your way. Eighteen Years is here to tell you that you are not alone. It is meant to be curled up with at night, accompanied by a cup of tea. It's a hug in book-form. It is there to comfort you when fuzzy socks and ice cream just aren't enough. It will inspire you to pick up a pen and write down thoughts of your own. It will help you to say the words that feel stuck in your chest. Take it on the train. Take it to the beach. Keep it on your nightstand. Keep it in your backpack. Read it at the park on benches beneath hundred-year-old trees. Read it while it's raining. Read it when you're happy. Read it when your heart aches. Eighteen Years is meant to be bent and worn, written in, tear-stained, and loved. This book is for you.

The most complete and current edition of Dylan Thomas' collected poetry in a beautiful gift edition celebrating the centenary of his birth The reputation of Dylan Thomas (1914-1953) as one of the greatest poets of the twentieth century has not waned in the fifty years since his death. A Welshman with a passion for the English language, Thomas’s singular poetic voice has been admired and imitated, but never matched. This exciting, newly edited annotated edition offers a more complete and representative collection of Dylan Thomas’s poetic works than any previous edition. Edited by leading Dylan Thomas scholar John Goodby from the University of Swansea, The Poems of Dylan Thomas contains all the poems that appeared in Collected Poems 1934-1952, edited by Dylan Thomas himself, as well as poems from the 1930-1934 notebooks and poems from letters, amatory verses, occasional poems, the verse film script for “Our Country,” and poems that appear in his “radio play for voices,” Under Milk Wood. Showing the broad range of Dylan Thomas’s oeuvre as never before, this new edition places Thomas in the twenty-first century, with an up-to-date introduction by Goodby whose notes and annotations take a pluralistic approach.

I have always wanted to create poems of feeling and love , pain and anger that I have felt in life I would like to publish them and make a life of writing my feelings and insights. Some insights are born of problems of my own creation ,some not. One insight is that I have been wanting to write and have the work in print before more than just me. If most of my work were read it would have to do with my search for Love , and my need to be committed to someone. I always seem to be involved but not fully committed . I ask myself time and time again am I incapable of being committed or has the person I would commit too come and pass in my many involvement's At this point in my life I don't know what the lord has in-store for me in this respect , but I keep Hoping. I have been involved with some of the most fantastic Black women in the world of every day Black women . Light ones Dark ones , American Non American all of them Great. I am starting to believe the problem of which I speak was not with them but with ME.

Paul Monette’s fierce and arresting collection of poems on the death of his partner from AIDS Following his partner Roger Horwitz’s death from AIDS in 1986, Paul Monette threw himself into these elegies. Writing them, he says, “quite literally kept me alive.” Both beautifully written and deeply affecting, every poem is full of anger, sorrow, tenderness, and a palpable sense of grief. With graceful language and emotional acuity, Paul Monette captures the enormity of a loss that ravaged a generation. But even more than they are about tragedy, these poems are about love. Each moving line is full of love for one who is no longer there, but whose presence is still achingly felt at every turn. Love Alone is remarkable for its honesty, its passion, and its depth. This ebook features an illustrated biography of Paul Monette including rare images and never-before-seen documents from the Paul Monette papers of the UCLA Library Special Collections.

These poems explore the distance between the head and the heart—and all of the pain, beauty, and hope in between. This book is one woman’s account of her longing to know herself fully. Her mind, body, and soul. This book might make you cry, fill you with nostalgia, empower you, or even give you hope. You might not see eye to eye with every idea inside, but with any luck you’ll see your soul reflected in its pages. You will question things. You will remember your past. You will be thankful for your present. You will dream a new dream. Above all, you will feel. Welcome to the journey of Eighteen Inches, a battlefield between a woman’s beat-up heart and her complex mind.
