Eastside forest ecosystems that are either not meeting society's expectations or are functioning below their biological potential are in need of restoration. Chapters: economic issues in ecosystem restoration; reducing landscape hazard from insect outbreaks; conserving biodiversity & wildlife habitat; controlling noxious weed invasion; conserving soil resources; introduction of fire into forests of eastern Oregon & Washington; restoration of hydrologic processes; restoration of riparian ecosystems & of stressed, forested rangelands; new technologies in silviculture; & forest roads & forest health.
