This historic book may have numerous typos and missing text. Purchasers can usually download a free scanned copy of the original book (without typos) from the publisher. Not indexed. Not illustrated. 1855 edition. Excerpt: ... CHAPTER IV. EABLY BI8ING PBOMOTES THE HEALTH OF THE MIND AND SOUL. This is unquestionably by far the most important view of the subject. How we may best promote the interests of the soul, and develope the faculties of the understanding, should ever be our chief concern. And I submit that early rising is eminently calculated to help forward both of these grand objects. That it is so, it needs only to be tried to prove, if the testimony and the example of many of the most holy and most learned men be not sufficient evidence. And I think that every one, who, from conviction and from choice, has adopted the practice of rising early, would be most unwilling to fall into the opposite habit. An habitual early riser, especially if a child of God, knows well that his intellectual vigour, his cheerfulness, his comfort, and his contentment of mind, are materially aided and improved by this means. To enlarge, then, upon some of these advantages: --I. First, as to those which the Mind derives by this means, it has been found by experience, that, 1. The TTUDEBSTANDING is most VIGOBOtTS m the early morning; and that Eaely Eisiug Impboyes It. The mind is clearer, and the judgment more to be depended upon, in the early morning, than at any other part of the day. It is the habit of judicious men to "sleep upon" any important plan or decision, at least one night if they can, before committing themselves to it. They know...

Seventeen, dead, and in charge of heaven's dark angels—all itching to kill someone. Madison Avery's dreams of ever fitting in at her new school died when she did. Especially since she was able to maintain the illusion of a body, deal with a pesky guardian angel, and oh yeah, bring the reaper who killed her to his untimely end. Not exactly in-crowd material. It's amazing that her crush, Josh, doesn't think she's totally nuts. Now Madison has learned that she's the dark timekeeper, in charge of angels who follow the murky guidelines of fate. Never one to abide by the rules, she decides it's time for a major change to the system. With the help of some unlikely allies, Madison forms a rogue group of reapers who definitely don't adhere to the rules of the heavens. Early to bed, early to rise, what? aEURoeSo teach me to number my days, that I might apply my heart unto wisdomaEUR (Psalm 90:12). You don't count your days, you number your days and make your years count. Then can it be said that you lived. Then can it be said that you lived. Then can it be said that you lived. There is no celebration for someone who achieved. There is no celebration for someone who achieved at eighty. What he would have achieved at age twenty. Since there must be a doing, why do it when you are old? I think it is of uttermost benefit to the door to have an early start-the-doing-and-on early finish, leading to a lifetime celebration Early to Bed, Early to Rise is a wake-up call to everyone to make the most of them now for you don't learn to walk at age twenty, you should be aiming at touch of the skies. Early to Bed, Early to rise alludes to the past that life is in phases. There are times and seasons. Don't die at age twenty and get buried at age eighty. No Start Now! Rise Now! Live forever.
