This book tells the remarkable story of Robert F. Williams--one of the most influential black activists of the generation that toppled Jim Crow and forever altered the arc of American history. In the late 1950s, as president of the Monroe, North Carolina, branch of the NAACP, Williams and his followers used machine guns, dynamite, and Molotov cocktails to confront Klan terrorists. Advocating "armed self-reliance" by blacks, Williams challenged not only white supremacists but also Martin Luther King Jr. and the civil rights establishment. Forced to flee during the 1960s to Cuba--where he broadcast "Radio Free Dixie," a program of black politics and music that could be heard as far away as Los Angeles and New York City--and then China, Williams remained a controversial figure for the rest of his life. Historians have customarily portrayed the civil rights movement as a nonviolent call on America's conscience--and the subsequent rise of Black Power as a violent repudiation of the civil rights dream. But Radio Free Dixie reveals that both movements grew out of the same soil, confronted the same predicaments, and reflected the same quest for African American freedom. As Robert Williams's story demonstrates, independent black political action, black cultural pride, and armed self-reliance operated in the South in tension and in tandem with legal efforts and nonviolent protest.

Heisenberg's SurRealities involved continual change and self-determined subjective, bizarre singularities. Introduction by Timothy Leary.

The famous NZ surgeon (who became a Naturopath) and healed his patients without drugs or surgery. New Zealand's Greatest Doctor, Ulric Williams of Wanganui - a Surgeon who became a Naturopath. His Background Dr Ulric Williams of Wanganui, was a Surgeon and GP who practiced from the 1920s to the 1960s, he was born 22 May 1890 at Putiki near Wanganui. He was a tall (6'2") reserved man, good looking and a very good athlete. He had an exceptional mind and trained as a doctor in the UK at Cambridge and Edinburgh Universities. Early in his career, Dr Ulric Williams had the reputation of being a 'playboy doctor' more interested in sports, golf, women and booze than his patients. His Epiphany He returned to New Zealand and operated a general practice and while working as a surgeon at the Wanganui Hospital, he became dissatisfied with surgery as a means of treatment. One night, after Dr Williams had pushed through his last patient for the day, he heard a voice speak to him and say, "Are you not ashamed of yourself?" He believed the voice to be from God and it became a turning point. He said, "I never became a real doctor until I forgot 95% of what I was taught at Edinburgh." His new treatment methods used no drugs or surgery. 'Terminally ill' patients These treatments put him at odds with the establishment and the system who did all they could to prevent him practicing and lecturing the new found methods he came to know and use to great effect. Not surprisingly when the establishments patients could not by cured by their treatments many sought out Dr Williams. Dr Williams' patients were chronically ill with Cancer, Arthritis, TB and Heart Disease. This book talks about them being either completely healed or greatly improved. This book reveals his simple methods. These included the avoidance of words like ..". you have been diagnosed with .... and you have .... days/weeks/years to live." He understood how the state of mind played a huge role in healing a patient and was a pioneer of using "raw food" as a healing agent. Brenda Sampson of Wellington, who wrote this book states she was healed of serious arthritis, by him, as a young woman. Today he would be considered a GP who used natural methods of healing and would most likely have had an international fan base. In his day he had to fight to retain his ability to practice medicine and businessmen, politicians and peers will have to answer to god for the many ways in which they stifled Dr Williams message and healing gifts, all in the pursuit of pride and and preserving profits.
