Volume 9 includes a selection of secular texts as well as documents directly relating to Judaica and ecclesiastica. Notable entries include "The Ecumenical Synod of Dionysiac Artists, " "The Elders and Rulers (Archons) of the Jews, " and "Fragment from the Unknown Gospel (Papyrus Egerton 2)." Texts and translations are printed side by side; full indices and references are also provided.Since it is being published in honor of Paul Barrett, this volume includes a special preface by Alanna Nobbs, an introductory reflection on Barrett's career and New Testament history by E. A. Judge, and a bibliography of Barrett's work compiled by C. B. Forbes.

Excerpt from Documents Illustrating the Impeachment of the Duke of Buckingham in 1626 In selecting five subjects out of those which were dwelt on by the accusers of Buckingham, I have been influenced solely by the fact that on these only have I been able to obtain documentary information of any value. I shall now proceed to deal with each of the five subjects in turn. I. On the charge relating to the purchase of the Wardenship of the Cinque Ports there is not much new matter to be produced. That the purchase took place is beyond question, but the papers now printed appear to show a probability that Buckingham, in making the purchase, had a public object in view. II. Concerning the guard of the seas there is even less that is new to be shown. All that appears is that Sir Francis Stewart, who was sent out to protect English trade, considered that he had done his best under the circumstances. III. The seizure of the St. Peter of Havre de. Grace was a more important matter. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
