As she turned from her stomach to her back an amazing thing happened. A rather large bird, the color of Stacys hair, landed near her head. The other women watched this in awe. They held their breath and waited to see what the bird would do. The colorful bird folded its wings and seemed to stare at Stacy's face. It's head cocking from one side then slowly to the other. Stacy didn't dare move when the bird landed next to her. She was afraid if she did it would attack her. "God but you're beautiful," she thinking to herself, holding her breath. The bird hopped closer to her, bent over and took some of her hair in its beak. Then, just as suddenly it took flight and left through the opening in the ceiling. She propped herself up on her elbow and felt her head where the bird had pulled her hair. Watching the bird as it flew up toward freedom, three of its feathers gently floated down landing on her. She gathered the feathers and stroked them absently, still looking at the opening in the ceiling. Stacy noticed the silence in the room. The only sound was the waterfall. Smiling, she turned over to finish drying in the sun.

You will learn why, in 1979, I kidnapped my 24 month old daughter from her uncaring and wanton mother in Greece. We came to this country illegally and became fugitives chased by the FBI in a place where we did not speak the language. We were surrounded by strangers, mostly mean and hypocritical, and only a few genuinely good. We lived in cemeteries, under bridges and ate out of trash cans to survive.
