Biography of Martin Murphy, Jr. (1807-1884) emigrated from Ireland to land near Quebec in 1828, where he married Marie Bolger in 1831 in the Cathedral in Quebec City. They immigrated to St. Louis, Missouri in the early 1840s, then moved to the mining regions near Sacramento, California in 1844, and by 1850 had settled in Santa Clara valley, California.
