In "The Defense Language Institute," the author presents an extensive view of the best and largest foreign language institution in the world, by means of 100 plus articles written by faculty, staff, students, and alumni, originally published between 2005 and 2015 in quarterly DLI Alumni Association newsletters. The subjects encompass a general background of DLI's history, the establishment of military language training in the United States and abroad, as well as DLI's enterprising presence in Monterey, California.
