This is the story of Joseph's, as well as his family's, journey in the world of the disabled, a world plagued by discrimination, suffering, isolation, and cruelty. It is also a story of the love, determination, bravery, and kindness extended to Joseph by the people who were willing to see beyond his disabilities and allowed themselves to be entranced by his beautiful smile, his contagious laugh, his physical beauty, and his amazing strength of spirit. He was a valiant warrior who exceeded the low expectations set for him, constantly encouraged by parents who loved him without conditions and believed in his ability to soar above those expectations given him by a world that failed to consider his amazing strength of spirit. In the process, he taught his parents many things that they never imagined would be a part of their journey in this life. He taught them to be brave. He taught them to be strong. He taught them that the strength of the human spirit is something that should never be underestimated. He taught them by example. Sometimes the disabled achieve things considered to be great by the world's standards, and sometimes they achieve things that are still great, just not on the world stage. The journey of my son, Joseph, was the latter. He fought the smaller battles that might eventually lead to winning the war. His was that proverbial "one voice singing in the darkness." My husband and I listened to his "voice." He made us better people by having known and "listened" to him. It is now up to us to continue to spread his message until the whole world has heard it. The disabled, just by being themselves, have the ability when given the opportunity to enable people to see their bravery, their strength of spirit, and the amazing grace with which they face their disabilities to effect a change in the hearts and minds of people, ultimately making the world a better place one person at a time. Ultimately, isn't that the reason that we all come to this earth, to become better people and leave the world a better place than we found it? Check out our website! Click Here!

In Vietnam's jungle war, only one group of men was feared more than death itself—the Marine Scout Snipers. . . . The U.S. Marine Scout Snipers were among the most highly trained soldiers in Vietnam. With their unparalleled skill, freedom of movement, and deadly accurate long-range Remington 700 bolt rifles, the Scout Snipers were sought after by every Marine unit—and so feared by the enemy that the VC bounty on the Scout Snipers was higher than on any other elite American unit. Joseph Ward's letters home reveal a side of war seldom seen. Whether under nightly mortar attack in An Hoa, with a Marine company in the bullet-scarred jungle, on secret missions to Laos, or on dangerous two-man hunter-kills, Ward lived the war in a way few men did. And he fought the enemy as few men did—up close and personal.

One day I had a special delivery from heaven. I became the mother of a baby boy with bright blue eyes and blonde hair. Joey just happened to have Down Syndrome, a heart defect and health issues. This story is a recap of only fifteen months with my special gift. I refer to Joey, as my special snowflake throughout this book. What may have seemed to be a tragedy, turned out to be the very opposite. The challenges came with many blessings as I experienced the wraparound presence and love of my Savior Jesus Christ. This is my testimony about a little snowflake that lives in my heart forever. My experiences with my special delivery brought me into a closer walk with my heavenly Father. I would do over in a heartbeat. My prayer is that this story will give others hope, build faith, and experience the love of God for themselves. Mark 8:36 "For what will it profit a man of he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?" Matthew 16:26 (The Living Bible) "What profit is there, if you gain the whole world - and lose eternal life?"

These nuggets of wisdom are offered by an Academy Award–nominated actor (James Woods), a popular comedian (Aasif Mandvi), and a world-famous novelist (Jodi Picoult) to their sixteen-year-old selves. No matter how accomplished and confident they seem today, at sixteen, they were like the rest of us—often unsure, frequently confused, and usually in need of a little reassurance. In Dear Me, 75 celebrities, writers, musicians, athletes, and actors have written letters to their younger selves that give words of comfort, warning, humor, and advice. These letters present intimate, moving, and witty insights into some of the world’s most intriguing and admired individuals. By turns funny, surprising, raw, and uplifting, this singular collection captures the universal conditions that are youth, life, and growing up.

INDIEFAB Book of the Year Awards -- 2014 Finalist The first monograph to celebrate the diverse and eclectic work of one of the true visionaries of the contemporary art world. Joseph Ari Aloi-aka JK5-is a compulsive artist for whom every free moment is an opportunity to create. Bringing together his work as a fine artist with the instincts and references that color his passions of tattoo and graffiti art, JK5 has an expansive, textured, and highly individual visual vernacular. Whether as a painter, illustrator, calligrapher, or designer, JK5 is preoccupied with the collision of personal and revelatory themes with profound pop-cultural iconography, resulting in a powerful and readily identifiable style. This creatively designed monograph features work that extends from paintings on canvas to plastic vinyl toys, from storyboards for animation films to collages and scratch cards, and from outlines for tattoo work to a vast collection of sketchbooks-each completed with such regularity that they serve as a kind of artist diary, recording his changing preoccupations and varying visual interests. Edited by the artist-with contributions from fellow artists Mike Giant and Kenzo Minami-and designed to reflect the varying and tactile nature of the work, this is an artist's book that will exist as a unique and collectible object in its own right as much as a record of the remarkable output of one of the most prolific voices in contemporary art.
