Words can describe reality, but they are also capable of creating new purposes, behaviors, shapes, and meanings. The poems in Creative Words are a part of the author’s own search for something expansive and deep in our relationship with God, the world, and one another. In many religious traditions, wisdom and words are active forces in the creation of the cosmos. These poetic reflections celebrate the connection between creation and creativity, imagination and inspiration, myth, wonder, feeling, and the strange and mysterious power of words. Here the inquisitive reader will find a mixture of moods and topics, and a sense of balance; the poems can talk about depression and anxiety but also hope and joy. These poems are neither universally optimistic nor brooding. Although deeply formed by faith, most of the poems in this collection are not overtly religious. This is poetry for religious and laypeople who enjoy creativity, poetry, and words.

Or just maybe, you just wish you could relieve some social anxiety and disconnectedness - i.e., "break the ice?"We now have an amazing new wordplay for everyone trying to keep their head above water and thrive in our modern Social Era. It will transform your frustrations into laughter, distractions into directions, boredom into a brain game, and icebreakers into warm human relations. It's called, "Grantasms."Grantasms are creative, twisted words with genuine stories that make for enjoyable conversations. They're word orgasms, created for a strong connection-with your mind, body, emotions, and other people. This book is the personal storytelling of Twisted Wordsmith, Grant Crowell. It's packed with funny and relatable anecdotes that you can easily apply for your own life! This book has Grantasms for all kinds of social situations. You might avoid showing up at a job interview with your "resumess." And you might better understand why someone you've always liked is an "endorfriend." They'll even help you laugh at your mistakes and failures, like when you make a "digital douche" - which is what I call a social faux pas, online.

This book engages with the life and works of the distinctive Hindi writer Krishna Sobti, known for making bold choices of themes in her writing. Also known for her extraordinary use of the Hindi language, she emerges as an embodiment of a counter archive. While presenting the author in the context of her times, this volume offers critical perspectives to define her position in the canon of modern Indian literature. Alongside important critical essays on her, the inclusion of excerpts from the translations of some major works by the author, such as Zindaginama, Mitro Marjani and Ai Ladki, greatly facilitate an understanding of her worldview and the contexts in which she wrote. Also included in this book are some of her reflections on the creative process that help in unfolding the complexities of her characters and her specific approach to the language of fiction. Writing in the times of significant political and cultural churnings, her fiction includes themes such as the Partition of the country and its aftermath, women and their sexuality, desire and violence, history and memory. Her writing subverted the dominant narratives of the times and de-historicised history. Her own essays and other critical writings demonstrate the way Krishna Sobti’s characters are abundantly polyphonic and seeped in social realities. They encapsulate the cultural milieu of their times and serve as a site of resistance to the dominant archive of power. Her interactions with her fellow Hindi writers such as Nirmal Verma and Krishan Baldev Vaid, as also her letters, her memoirs and the reminiscences of others, further enrich this volume and establish her unique voice. Part of the ‘Writer in Context’ Series, this book will be useful for scholars and researchers of Indian literature, English literature, postcolonial studies, cultural studies, gender studies, translation studies and Partition studies.
