The Land Grant Universities have failed to look around and see that the true innovators are close to the land, not sitting in front of computers perusing thousands of numbers that have little to do with what counts in profitability or reviving our grassland environments. This book contains the philosophy and direction that is lacking in university teachings. The knowledge contained herein is a combination or research and observations from the land. The natural world must be observed to learn how to manage within its parameters. Numbers alone cannot do this. University research is designed to pull out the variables to give a clean result. The person on the land has to work with the variables. They have to be observed and added into daily planning. The environment is a living, being, thing, not an abstract figment to be set aside until a later date. The Cattle Industry has to face up to the challenges of the 21st Century. There is no other choice.
