Author Marty Peck tells what it was like to literally live on a golf course with behind-the-scenes escapades right out of a caddy shack movie. The stories from three generations of keepers of the greens revolve around their home - blending coming of age and fatherhood themes with golf history and plenty of humorous and lifelong lessons. With hundreds of images, follow the historic course's evolution since its horse-drawn construction one-hundred years ago from the Post cereal family summer estate. Share the lives of its humble caretakers, with tales of slot-machine con artists, ravaging fires and floods, and national scandals as the Peck family watched the likes of Walter Hagan, Ben Hogan and Arnold Palmer play in their back yard. Peck will make you appreciate golf course history and have a laugh or two while you're at it.

As the magazine of the Texas Exes, The Alcalde has united alumni and friends of The University of Texas at Austin for nearly 100 years. The Alcalde serves as an intellectual crossroads where UT's luminaries - artists, engineers, executives, musicians, attorneys, journalists, lawmakers, and professors among them - meet bimonthly to exchange ideas. Its pages also offer a place for Texas Exes to swap stories and share memories of Austin and their alma mater. The magazine's unique name is Spanish for "mayor" or "chief magistrate"; the nickname of the governor who signed UT into existence was "The Old Alcalde."

The area now known as South Ogden, Utah, was previously called Burch Creek. The first settlers were primarily immigrants, originally from the eastern United States or Europe, who came to settle Utah with the Mormon migration. These first residents included the Burchs from Kentucky, the Stephens from North Carolina, the Garners from Germany, and the Beus and Combes from Italy. On July 6, 1936, the 800 residents voted to incorporate the area into a city. The city now has more than 16,000 residents, and areas that once were farms, dirt roads, open fields, cattails, and springs are now homes, businesses, schools, parks, and churches. South Ogden has earned its reputation as a great place to grow up, a fine place to raise a family, and a safe and peaceful place to live out retirement years.
