And 13. Words Risale-i Nur (Treatise of Light) Training Program This book which is entitled "Qur'an, Modern Science and Philosophy" and which is an explanatory work based on 11th, 12th and 13th Words of Risale-i Nur, comparatively deals with the perspectives of the universe by Qur'an, modern science and philosophy; and the differences of interpretation they develop and the different meanings they make out of the same information they have. When you complete the book, you will have a striking appreciation of the profound differences of the lessons given by the philosophy and science which look at the universe from an ungodly perspective and you will have acquired the most basic and accurate Qur'anic terms in making sense of this universe. In 11. Word: We discover the hidden secret of the creation of man and the universe with the help of a wonderful example (The Story of the Creation of Our Universe) and we invite you to a completely different mental journey and we promise that we will go to places you have never travelled before on this imaginary journey that we will start together. Here are some of the questions we ask: Why are we here, who sent us here, and where do we go from here? Who are we and what is required of us? Why couldn’t the mind find its way on its own, alone? What is the true form of the universe and the cause of man's creation? From which perspective should we look at the universe in order to discover the truth about it? What do we see if we look at the world as a new visitor? Why are we in need of the creatures/created things which come into existence by chance? Why is the nature, existing in the world and in the universe, so beautiful? In 12. Word: We compare Qur'an, philosophy, and modern science in terms of understanding and giving meaning to the universe. Thus, the profound difference between, on the one hand Qur'an and on the other hand, philosophy and science, which look at the universe from an irreligious perspective, emerges strikingly. Our "A Gift Pack", however, will take you to another world, with the strength of its logical rules and poeticalness of its literary depictions. In 13. Word: Right after a pleasant and short trip of history of science, we begin a fictional journey in "Cosmic Calendar" and we search for the answers of the following questions: "What should one expect to get from a product made in the name of science? How should its value be assessed?" and we witness that those who could fine what the world "fine-tuning" means and who appreciate it, will graduate from the "Academy of Universe" with a high degree of success. In this way, having given an exemplary lesson about the fact that religion and sciences of Qur'an and Philosophy produce products, in the name of science, that are quite different from each other., it is proved with a striking determination that Qur'an has such a high degree of scientificness compared to positive sciences. We would like you to accompany us in this imaginary and mental journey of discovery. There is only one fixed price for a ticket of the Journey: A strong sense of wonder in the search for truth. This work is a part of our basic/source book called “A Journey of Discovery for an Extraordinary Treasure: Risale-i Nur (The Treatise of Light) Training Program” upon which our “Journeys of Discovery, Risale-i Nur Training Program” is constructed and it is “The comparison of Qur'an, Philosophy and Modern Science in Understanding the Secret of the Universe”, which is the fourth discovery of the five discovery, dealt with in the first main part of that book, which is called “Discovering the Value of the Treasure of Faith”. We strongly suggest and present this book to those who regularly read Risale-i Nur as well as to those who want to get some information for the first time. The epilogue of our book which is entitled “Your Journey Just Begins Now!” is also included in this work as it contains emotional, striking and impressive points coming sincerely from the deepest parts of our hearts about the reading of Risale-i Nur and attendance to the Risale-i Nur Lectures. Take a look at the science behind the Mayan calendar, prophecies and mythology. The Maya believed multiple cycles governed civilization. They created various calendars to track these cycles. Their short count calendar tracked a 256-year cycle believed to control epidemics, famines, warfare and more. Scientists have found a 250-year solar cycle that also appears to affect epidemics, famines, warfare and more. Their long count calendar tracked a 5000-year cycle related to natural disasters and cosmic catastrophes. Scientists have also discovered that the Earth is subjected to periodic bombardment by comets and asteroids that plunges the world into long periods of darkness and cold. Mayan mythology appears to record such events and in some instances even the exact dates on which these catastrophes occurred in the past. By comparing these dates with ice core records, sedimentary records, and climate records, this book reveals the truth about civilization's darkest days. And what may lie ahead in the future.

Mayan daykeeper Hunbatz Men reveals the multi-calendar system of the Maya that guided the lives of his ancestors and how it can guide us today • The first book to reveal the secrets of the Mayan Pleiades calendar: the Tzek’eb • Explains how the Maya used their astronomical knowledge to guide their lives on Earth The Mayan Calendar has taken on special prominence with the imminent arrival of 2012, a date that many claim is the end of that calendar. However, as Mayan elder and daykeeper Hunbatz Men shows, the cosmological understanding of his ancestors was so sophisticated that they had not one, but many calendars, each based on the cycles of different systems in the cosmos. In this book he reveals for the first time the Tzek’eb, or Pleiades, Calendar of 26,000 years, which charts the revolution of our solar system around Alcyone, the central star of the Pleiades system. He also discusses the K’uuk’ulcan Calendar of the 4 seasons of the solar year and the wheel of the K’altunes Calendar, which is composed of 13 cycles of 20 years each that form a calendar of 260 years. In traditional Mayan culture the computation of time was not determined by simple economic or social motives. The calendars served the higher purpose of synchronizing the lives of human beings and their societies to the great cosmic pulsation, to the rhythm of the annual seasons, and to the other cycles that dictate changes upon Earth. Mayan understanding of the cosmic cycles was so exact that this knowledge could be used to influence all stages of life--from planning when to conceive (parents could choose not only the sex of their child but its vocation and future destiny) to plotting out the course of the entire society. Pyramids played a crucial role in applying this wisdom because, as Hunbatz Men shows, they were able to produce and transform energy in accordance with the cosmic cycles charted by the calendars. This book reveals for the first time the wisdom of the multi-calendar Mayan system and how it can help guide our modern world.

The Beginning and the End

The Beginning and the End

Genre: Science
ISBN: 3319050621

In this fascinating journey to the edge of science, Vidal takes on big philosophical questions: Does our universe have a beginning and an end or is it cyclic? Are we alone in the universe? What is the role of intelligent life, if any, in cosmic evolution? Grounded in science and committed to philosophical rigor, this book presents an evolutionary worldview where the rise of intelligent life is not an accident, but may well be the key to unlocking the universe's deepest mysteries. Vidal shows how the fine-tuning controversy can be advanced with computer simulations. He also explores whether natural or artificial selection could hold on a cosmic scale. In perhaps his boldest hypothesis, he argues that signs of advanced extraterrestrial civilizations are already present in our astrophysical data. His conclusions invite us to see the meaning of life, evolution and intelligence from a novel cosmological framework that should stir debate for years to come.

Can science rule out God? To properly understand the history of the universe and humanity, one can turn to any of the three religions discussed herein, but gaining insights into the theories of scientists like Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein, and Stephen Hawking is a much better idea. Kömhoff takes the interested layman past God and through a series of eminent scientists on a timeless journey spanning fourteen billion years, from the Big Bang to the present day. In understandable steps, the author guides the reader through the various fields and introduces them to theories, contradictions, philosophers, black holes, evolution, logic, relativity, God proofs, and the Big Bang singularity. The appendices add, in understandable language, in-depth introductions to the fascinating theories the author discusses. According to Kömhoff, we live in the Cosmos of Coincidence. This sheds a completely new light on the Big Questions: What is man? Where do we come from? What is our place in the cosmos? What is the meaning of our existence? Where are we going? And, last but not least, is there a God? With present-day knowledge, his final conclusion is: yes, science can rule out God as the creator of man and the universe, but no, science cannot rule out the existence or non-existence of God.

A brief overview of astronomy and cosmology is presented in five different ways, through the lenses of space, time, evolution, process, and structure. Specific topics are chosen for their contribution to a "big picture" understanding of the interconnectedness of knowledge in astronomy and cosmology. Thus, many topics (stellar astronomy for example) are treated in multiple sections, but from different viewpoints—for example, sizes and distances of stars (space); when stars appeared in the history of the universe (time); stellar evolution (evolution); hydrostatic equilibrium and stellar spectra (process); and stellar structure (structure). Some topics traditional to the introductory astronomy curriculum—eclipses and lunar phases, for example—are omitted altogether as they are inessential for the big-picture goals of the book, and excellent summaries are easily available elsewhere. On the other hand, the book treats some topics not usually covered in an introductory astronomy course, for example the roles played by equilibrium processes and symmetry in our understanding of the universe. The level is for the beginning undergraduate, with only basic skills in rudimentary algebra assumed. But more advanced students and teachers will also find the book useful as both a set of practical tools and a point of departure for taking stock (in five different ways) of the current state of knowledge in astronomy and cosmology.
