Kabēr Dās is a revered Indian saint who has given a lot of insightful couplets which find application in different walks of life. While we have been quoting and applying the knowledge contained in the couplets, there has hardly been any effort to understand how these give a new meaning to a host of managerial practices. The book ‘Corporate Wisdom from Kabēr Dās’ endeavours to explore the possibility of finding this application in the corporate world. Various couplets (doha’s) have been identified, picked and interpreted from the point of view of Kabēr and then re-interpreted in the managerial context. The relevance of this effort stems from the fact that books exploring Kabeer’s connection with management are almost non-existent. Here is a rich legacy which needs to be brought to the people. While there have been numerous attempts to work out linkages between management and Bhagvad Geeta, Chanakya and the corporate world, justice has not been done in case of Kabēr Dās.

Saint Poet Kabir Was Illiterate By Choice. He Was Of The Firm View That If One Realises The Value Of The Two Letters Of The Alphabet R And M Which Make The Name Of Shri Rama There Was No Need To Bother About The Rest Of The Fifty-Four Alphabets Which Might As Well Be Washed Down The River As Being Of No Value. But Kabir Also Emphasised That The True Value Of Shri Rama Should Be Realised Which Will Help Man To Realise The Intrinsic Value Of God And Ingrain True And Deep Love For The Lord. And Kabir Acted Accordingly As He Has Shown In His Songs And Maxims Which Flowed From His Lips In Thousands. The Maxims Selected For This Book Through Small In Number Being 160 In All Show How Deep And Broad Were His Realisation.

Kabir Das was a 15th century mystic, saint and poet of India who happened to be one of the fore-runners and a strong supporter of a religious-cum-spiritual renaissance, the 'Bhakti Movement'. It was an uprising against the rigid manifestation of dogmas and rituals among Hindus as well as oppression at the hands of Muslim rulers in the name of religion. They filled the Indian sacred hearts with doom and dread. Though all the poet-mystics of the time loved God in their own ways, Kabir worshipped, loved and venerated the Supreme-energy manifest as the primordial, formless, pure and the pristine. His verses show a spirit closer and akin to that of Sufis. Though lovelorn, Kabir was far from roaming among the clouds. He stood vociferously against the inane precepts and insane customs of his time involving merciless killings in the name of sacrifice. He also lashed back at the causeless and stupid conflicts between different religions and sects. Kabir's mission lay in equating Ram with Rahim and bridging the gap between the two. His couplets came to be known down generations orally. They were later compiled in a book form called Bijak. In spite of him never holding a paper or pen all his life, his verses have regaled and enthralled Indian Hindi-knowing readers down the centuries and are often recited, sung and quoted to this day.
