From Condemnation to Redemption was imagined one beautiful morning while sharing the Word on Periscope TV. The Holy Spirit quickened me to put some of the things I was sharing in writing. Right after the end of the Bible study on this day, my son called me and said, "Mom, I hope you are putting this in writing." The Holy Spirit immediately gave me the title of the book. Jesus Christ came to redeem us from condemnation to redemption. We were condemned when we fell short of God's glory due to sin. But "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, that whosoever believes in him will not perish but have eternal life" (John 3:16). This book reveals the plan of God for humanity as said in Genesis 1:26. Man fell short of that plan due to sin. Jesus came to redeem man from sin and put us back into the right place with God""the place of dominion, authority, and righteousness.

Not just another commentary on Romans, Redemption through the Eyes of the Condemned makes Paul’s letter come alive with a fresh perspective, from a context reminiscent of Paul’s—that of a convicted felon in prison. The combination of a seminary degree, fourteen years in a state penitentiary, and eight years of teaching Romans affords John Montana the ability to see parallels to prison life that can help all readers grasp Paul’s most theologically dense letter. Not only are terms such as condemnation, justification, redemption, law, patience, and hope all too familiar to the prisoner, concepts such as the old and new realm, the already/not yet tension, and corporate identity dominate in the prison experience. Montana’s surprisingly accurate illustrations connect these terms and concepts to prison life and help clarify not only the more difficult passages in Romans but will stir readers to a reinvigorated viewpoint that will help enrich their devotion to the Lord.

You can fear God or everything else. Fear wisely. Most Christians will agree that we ought to love our God. But what about fearing God? The Bible says that "the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom" (Proverbs 9:10), yet a broad survey of modern evangelicalism reveals that the fear of God is hardly regarded as such anymore. Many Christians seem to wrongly assume that the gospel of grace trumps the fear of the Lord. Yet it is only the God of the gospel who is truly worthy of our reverential fear. The purpose of this book is to equip Christians with a healthy view of fearing God and to illustrate how it reconciles with the gospel of God's grace to sinners.

One night of seemingly harmless fun can forever change your life. After a night of "partying," The Holy Spirit sent me to a place of darkness. I was given the choice to change my life or to die and go to an eternal Hell. That night I chose to fight for my life. I chose the Lord and to love him with all my heart, all my mind, all my spirit, and all my soul. It has been an uphill battle paying for the consequences of that night. I have had it all, and lost it all. I have had good health and have found myself in great pain. Already battling years of mental illness, one more diagnoses was added to the list and that was Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). This book is a diary of what I experienced after my major encounter with a loving God. Please know that you are not the only one grappling with feelings of deficiency and consequences of sin. This is a story of moving from condemnation to redemption. Anyone who has ever struggled with their salvation will enjoy reading about our forgiving Father, God. John Goodwin (1593-1665), the eminent Puritan Arminian divine, was a man ahead of his time who lived in a turbulent era in which many principals, both theological and governmental, were subjects of controversy. This new edition of Redemption Redeemed (originally published in 1651), provides a major refutation of the Calvinistic limited atonement doctrine. Goodwin has written an adversarial treatise in which he, step by step, examines the overwhelming scriptural and theological evidence supporting the idea that Christ died for all mankind. He also refutes the opposing arguments of his day and argues that God, through his grace, provides the opportunity for all people to be saved. The Methodist Quarterly Review noted: “Had Redemption Redeemed been his only publication, it should have been enough in itself to perpetuate his (Goodwin's) fame. Its great learning, clear reasoning, sound judgment, and admirable spirit, render it worthy of the study of the lovers of this glorious doctrine, and the name of its author is one which all Arminians should delight to honor. A volume so ably written, and going to the bottom of the controversy, could not in that polemical age fail to create a storm.” In the contemporary period, as Christians enter the 21st Century and Calvinism with its disturbing implications is making a resurgence, Goodwin's masterful work is a welcome and much needed contribution to those seeking to understand the truths of God's word.
