Compendium of Analytical Nomenclature: Definitive Rules 1977 focuses on the recommended nomenclature and symbols to be used in various disciplines of analytical chemistry. The book first offers information on recommendations for the presentation of the results of chemical analysis; recommendations for terminology to be employed with precision balances; and recommendations on nomenclature for contamination phenomena in precipitation from aqueous solution. The text also takes a look at recommended nomenclature for automatic analysis and recommendations for nomenclature of thermal analysis and mass spectrometry, as well as recommended nomenclature for titrimetric analysis. The publication reviews the practical measurements of pH in amphiprotic and mixed solvents. Topics include operational pH scale; selection of a pH unit for amphiprotic solvents; and interpretation of the measured pH. The text also considers the recommendations on nomenclature and presentation of data in gas chromatography and recommendations on nomenclature for chromatography. The book is a valuable source of data for readers wanting to study analytical nomenclature.

Principles and Practice of Modern Chromatographic Methods, Second Edition takes a comprehensive, unified approach in its presentation of chromatographic techniques. Like the first edition, the book provides a scientifically rigid, but easy-to-follow presentation of chromatography concepts that begins with the purpose and intent of chromatographic theory - the "what and why that are left out of other books attempting to cover these principles. This fully revised second edition brings the content up-to-date, covering recent developments in several new sections and an additional chapter on composite methods. New topics include sample profiling, sample preparation, sustainable green chemistry, 2D chromatography, miniaturization/nano-LC, HILIC, and more. - Contains thorough chapters that begin with an updated schematic overview and a visual representation of the content - Avoids the obfuscation of different terminologies and classification systems that are prevalent in the area, such as the relationship between liquid chromatography and column chromatography - Provides integrated and comprehensive topic coverage based on chromatographic bibliometrics and survey reports on the relative usage of chromatographic techniques

The working title of the book was The Detection of Analytes by the Resin Spot Tests Method. Firstly, we decided to sort out all published qualitative methods systematically against analytes. We were not discouraged by the obstacles, such as the study of a great number of papers published in Japanese, the difficulty in locating (especially older) publications, or the time required. Still, having in mind not to burden unnecessarily the volume of the book, we dismissed the idea of systematically listing all the procedures in detail. Nevertheless, a relatively large number of them found a place in the book, and perhaps this will contribute to the stirring of spontaneous interest in this technique in the ranks of applied chemists and others who a priori shun the technique.

Membrane reactors are increasingly replacing conventional separation, process and conversion technologies across a wide range of applications. Exploiting advanced membrane materials, they offer enhanced efficiency, are very adaptable and have great economic potential. There has therefore been increasing interest in membrane reactors from both the scientific and industrial communities, stimulating research and development. The two volumes of the Handbook of membrane reactors draw on this research to provide an authoritative review of this important field.Volume 2 reviews reactor types and industrial applications, beginning in part one with a discussion of selected types of membrane reactor and integration of the technology with industrial processes. Part two goes on to explore the use of membrane reactors in chemical and large-scale hydrogen production from fossil fuels. Electrochemical devices and transport applications of membrane reactors are the focus of part three, before part four considers the use of membrane reactors in environmental engineering, biotechnology and medicine. Finally, the book concludes with a discussion of the economic aspects of membrane reactors. With its distinguished editor and international team of expert contributors, the two volumes of the Handbook of membrane reactors provide an authoritative guide for membrane reactor researchers and materials scientists, chemical and biochemical manufacturers, industrial separations and process engineers, and academics in this field. - Discusses integration of membrane technology with industrial processes - Explores the use of membrane reactors in chemical and large-scale hydrogen production from fossil fuels - Considers electrochemical devices and transport applications of membrane reactors
