Jesús nos enseñó un modelo y estilo de vida que nos hace felices prescindiendo de todo lo que es superfluo. El gran problema del siglo XXI es la abundancia, una abundancia que asfixia nuestra vida y la hace dependiente de las deudas, el estrés y la ansiedad. ¿Cómo esta su casa? A veces tenemos nuestro hogar lleno de cosas, pero no hay sitios para nuevas relaciones o una vida simple y ordenada. Muchos cachivaches se amontonan en garajes, trasteros o por todos lados. La gente alquila grandes trasteros para guardar cosas que no volverá a usar. ¿Ha llegado al punto que disfruta más viendo como las cosas salen de su hogar que cuando entran? Uno de los grandes peligros es que nuestras posesiones terminen por dominar nuestra vida. Una vida disciplinada a la forma de Jesús produce un cambio interior que se ve exteriormente. La codicia es el problema del hombre desde siempre, Moisés ya la describió en Éxodo 20:17: “No codiciarás la casa de tu prójimo; no codiciarás la esposa de tu prójimo, ni su siervo, ni su criada, ni su buey, ni su asno, ni cosa alguna de tu prójimo”. Una parte fundamental de nuestro llamado como cristianos es la sencillez. Jesús quiere liberarte de la carga de las cosas y devolverte la alegría de una vida mucho más simple. Sometimes we have our home full of things, but there is no room for new relationships or a simple and orderly life. Lots of junk is piling up in garages, storage rooms, or all over the house. People rent large storage rooms to store things that they will never use again. Have you gotten to the point where you enjoy watching things leave your home more than when they come in? One of the greatest dangers is that our possessions end up controlling our lives. A life well-organized in the way of Jesus’ teachings, produces a change within us that reflects outwardly. Greed has been man's problem since the beginning of time, Moses wrote it in Exodus 20:17: “Thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbor's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbor's.” A fundamental part of our calling as Christians is simplicity. Jesus wants to free you from the burden of things and give you back the joy of a much simpler life.
