The Douthit name is spelled many different ways. John Douthit, Sr. (1709-1784) emigrated from Ireland to southern Pennsylvania in 1724. Other Douthits, spelled various ways, had already emigrated. John Douthit, Sr. settled at Monocacy, Maryland, where he married Mary Scott in 1738.
