A poignant and powerful spiritual memoir about how the lives of the saints changed the life of a modern woman. In My Sisters the Saints, author Colleen Carroll Campbell blends her personal narrative of spiritual seeking, trials, stumbles, and breakthroughs with the stories of six women saints who profoundly changed her life: Teresa of Avila, Therese of Lisieux, Faustina of Poland, Edith Stein of Germany, Mother Teresa of Calcutta, and Mary of Nazareth. Drawing upon the rich writings and examples of these extraordinary women, the author reveals Christianity's liberating power for women and the relevance of the saints to the lives of contemporary Christians.

Piper Parrish's life on Frick Island—a tiny, remote town smack in the middle of the Chesapeake Bay—is nearly perfect. Well, aside from one pesky detail: Her darling husband, Tom, is dead. When Tom's crab boat capsized and his body wasn't recovered, Piper, rocked to the core, did a most peculiar thing: carried on as if her husband was not only still alive, but right there beside her, cooking him breakfast, walking him to the docks each morning, meeting him for their standard Friday night dinner date at the One-Eyed Crab. And what were the townspeople to do but go along with their beloved widowed Piper? Anders Caldwell’s career is not going well. A young ambitious journalist, he’d rather hoped he’d be a national award-winning podcaster by now, rather than writing fluff pieces for a small town newspaper. But when he gets an assignment to travel to the remote Frick Island and cover their boring annual Cake Walk fundraiser, he stumbles upon a much more fascinating tale: an entire town pretending to see and interact with a man who does not actually exist. Determined it’s the career-making story he’s been needing for his podcast, Anders returns to the island to begin covert research and spend more time with the enigmatic Piper—but he has no idea out of all the lives he’s about to upend, it’s his that will change the most. USA Today bestselling author Colleen Oakley delivers an unforgettable love story about an eccentric community, a grieving widow, and an outsider who slowly learns that sometimes faith is more important than the facts.

Sequel to Colleen Drippé's book Gelen, Vessel of Darkness continues the story of Fen Colony, home of the Drayak tribe and their psychically gifted gelens. Mutated from Earth normal, these semi-outcasts have now begun to find a place within the tribe. Vess Lorn's son, known as Spear, a gelen himself, but also a member of the Drayak royal house, has been elected king of Drakendon -- and things will never be the same.It isn't an easy job, however. Spear must not only juggle an uneasy alliance with the stranded forces of Net Central, the offworlders, but also confront a new menace. Dilich Hayan, powerful gelen and North Islander, has arrived at the Drayak Citadel, carrying with him an ancient curse as well as the hopes of his own unbalanced people. Through his patterning, a bridge is formed with a new power rising in the west and suddenly not only the gelens but everyone in the colony is threatened.Dilich is not happy as the "vessel of darkness" and tries to fight free. But his own struggles are not enough -- both king and queen (Ella Trenre, a gelen whose powers equal those of Dilich) must stake everything in the battle, along with Rac Marcus Wolfbane, a newly ordained priest, the pirate, Render, Spear's two smuggler brothers, and Racka, a man tormented by the murder of his former mistress, who serves as the king's advisor.

Colleen Louise Barry's debut collection of poems, COLLEEN, is a gleeful exercise in self-documentation. Without taking themselves too seriously, these often funny and wise poems ask big questions about the nature of reality. They mix mystery with candor and childlike wonder with aphoristic certainty. COLLEEN's clearest assertions invite our closest inspection, revealing infinite complexities. The ideas in this book are like cups at the end of rivers. Visual and abstract consumption is digested, but it's also tangled. What is the poet's role in her poetry? Like a self-titled pop album, COLLEEN presents a mercurial version of its creator: powerfully refracted through each of her poems, aware of the absurdity inherent in her own construction, letting us in on the best inside jokes. Poetry.

Colleen Moore (1899-1988) was one of the most popular and beloved stars of the American silent screen. Remembered primarily as a comedienne in such films as Ella Cinders (1926) and Orchids and Ermine (1927), Moore's career was also filled with dramatic roles that often reflected societal trends. A trailblazing performer, her legacy was somewhat overshadowed by the female stars that followed her, notably Louise Brooks and Clara Bow. An in-depth examination of Moore's early life and film career, the book reveals the ways in which her family and the times in which she lived influenced the roles she chose. Included are forewords written by film historian Joseph Yranski, a friend of the actress, and by Moore's stepdaughter, Judith Hargrave Coleman.

Writing began in 1972 when I noticed my daughter was not talking by the age of three years. I tried to seek help and through numerous visits with the professionals, who are supposed to know everything, it became clear to me that I was repeating my story over and over again until I did not want to talk about it any more. I decided to write a book so when I met a new Social Worker, Psychologist, Psychiatrist, doctor, teacher or anyone remotely involved with challenged children, I would just hand them my book about Colleen. That way I did not have to say anything, they could read it for themselves. The book "Mama Loves Colleen" became more than a personal history concerning my daughter. I realized it involved the whole family. I saw it as a chance to help other people understand the problems that arise when you are raising an Autistic child. The book is not only about the challenges of raising an Autistic child. The book also deals with the challenges of trying to understand the workings of Community Mental Health. From the very start, they spoke a different language. I thought there was something wrong with me. Each visit with one group or another my blood pressure went over the top. I had to conquer anger, depression and the terrible urge to punch someone's lights out. I hope when you read the book you feel my anger, you understand my depression, maybe even get a few chuckles from some of my experiences with Colleen - Sylvia Kolley Following is a list of the 14 signs of Autism: 1. Difficulty in mixing with other children 2. Acts as though they are deaf 3. Resists learning 4. No fear of real dangers 5. Resists changes in their routines 6. Indicates needs by gestures 7. Inappropriate laughing and giggling 8. Not cuddly 9. Marked physical activity 10. No eye contact 11. Inappropriate attachments to objects 12. Spins objects 13. Sustained odd play 14. Standoffish manner As you read this book, you will see that Colleen exhibits all of these signs and then some.
