William Campbell Gault (1910–1995) was an American writer. He wrote under his own name, as well as (among others) the pseudonyms Roney Scott, Larry Sternig, and Will Duke. He is probably best remembered for his sports fiction, particularly the young-readers’ novels he began publishing in the early 1960s. Gault was also an acclaimed mystery writer. He was not limited to sports and mysteries, though—he also wrote a substantial body of science fiction. (Admittedly, he did mix crime and sports into his science fiction!) We believe this volume is the largest collection of his fantastic work ever produced. Included are: SCRAP IRON VENUSIAN INVADER CLUTCH OF MORPHEUS TOTAL RECALL BREATH OF BEELZEBUB THE HESITANT ANGEL MADE TO MEASURE LET'S DO IT AGAIN FOG I’LL SEE YOU IN MY DREAMS THIS WAY TO MARS JOY RIDE THE HUDDLERS THE MIGHTY DEAD ELECTION CAMPAIGN THE WOMAN OBSESSION TITLE FIGHT ESCAPE FEROCITY If you enjoy this book, search your favorite ebook store for "Wildside Press Megapack" to see the 200+ other entries in the series, covering science fiction, modern authors, mysteries, westerns, classics, adventure stories, and much, much more! When the sleepy town of Weyharrow is enveloped by a mysterious fog, the inhabitants find themselves behaving in strange and dangerous ways. Dr Steven Glaze, a young probationary GP, prescribes a most unorthodox treatment for arthritis; the vicar proclaims in morning service that the villagers are in the hands of the devil; and Phyllis Knabbe tragically commits suicide. Throughout the village people have seemingly taken leave of their senses. Soon word leaks out and Weharrow becomes inundated both by the national press and a bus load of hippies seeking a magical experience, who believe that a nearby ancient pagan temple is somehow responsible for this strange phenomenon. But Steven Glaze and Jenny, a reporter for the local newspaper, feel sure that there is more to this than meets the eye and they set out to discover the cause - supernatural or otherwise - of everyone's drastically altered behaviour.

Since the appearance of the first science fiction magazine in 1926, thousands of short stories have been published in periodicals devoted to the genre. These stories cover a wide range of subjects, from spacecraft to the human condition, and feature little-known authors as well as masters like Ellison and Asimov. In the past, finding which issue of what magazine ran a certain story was nearly impossible. This much-needed reference tool provides valuable assistance in the daunting task of locating short stories published in science fiction magazines, providing exhaustive indexes to magazines, authors, and titles, allowing a variety of options for research on 34,000 stories appearing in nearly 5,000 issues of 133 genre magazines. Stories from all major American publications, as well as from several minor periodicals, are indexed. Also included is an appendix of the best known and most prolific contributors, giving the titles of all their stories in this work (necessary because the huge author index does not show titles). A guide to how to use this book clarifies its features for the researcher.
