In today's world, when Christians think about other religions, numerous questions and issues arise - and their convictions about Christ and about other religions can have a significant influence on their understanding of how God relates to people, and what their own conduct towards them should be. From her wealth of inter-cultural and inter-faith experience, Ida Glaser believes that the most urgent questions for Christians focus on their own responsibilities and other peoples' welfare. Responding to Micah 6:8 - 'And what does the Lord require of you? To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God' - Dr Glaser explores biblical perspectives on other faiths and their adherents, with clarity, sensitivity and challenging insights for all Christians.

Written by an L. A. County homicide detective and former atheist, Cold-Case Christianity examines the claims of the New Testament using the skills and strategies of a hard-to-convince criminal investigator. Christianity could be defined as a “cold case”: it makes a claim about an event from the distant past for which there is little forensic evidence. In Cold-Case Christianity, J. Warner Wallace uses his nationally recognized skills as a homicide detective to look at the evidence and eyewitnesses behind Christian beliefs. Including gripping stories from his career and the visual techniques he developed in the courtroom, Wallace uses illustration to examine the powerful evidence that validates the claims of Christianity. A unique apologetic that speaks to readers’ intense interest in detective stories, Cold-Case Christianity inspires readers to have confidence in Christ as it prepares them to articulate the case for Christianity.

The world has always been a melting pot of beliefs, but now more than ever, your neighbor may be part of a differing world religion. In Comparing Christ with World Religions, the truths of Christianity are compared to key beliefs of Buddhism, Hinduism, Islam, Judaism, and tribal religions. This is a most helpful tool in answering questions you or seekers have about other religious beliefs, and a handy overview for sharing your faith with others. * Formerly titled The Spirit of Truth and the Spirit of Error II

This book intends to show that Christianity is God's response -- expressed in human words and in human history -- to the divinely inspired yet sin-distorted universal human search for God. Through a sympathetic evaluation and comparison with Christianity of the major world religions (from Primitive myths and rites to Hinduism, Buddhism, Taoism, Confucianism, Islam and Judaism), this work defends the credibility of the Catholic Christian faith and shows the need for dialogue with these religions in the "new evangelization" of the world called for by Vatican II.

Not illustrated. 1921 edition. Excerpt: ...is not much of a proselytizing organization. Its interest in missions has been in the form of doing good and helping on all good causes, and of reviving the life that is within these other Religions. The Rev. Dr. William E. Channing once used these words concerning other Christian denominations: "Accustomed as we are to see genuine piety in all classes of Christians, in Trinitarians, in Unitarians, in Calvinists and Arminians, in Episcopalians, Methodists, Baptists, and Congregationalists, and delighting in this character whenever it appears, we are little anxious to bring men over to our peculiar opinions." This unwillingness to make converts characterizes social settlement work in England and America. It is this which has made the Unitarian body a small one, in comparison with those more zealous and also more sectarian, and has kept it from participating in missions, so long as the main idea has been to convert people from their traditional faith to Christianity. Unitarians need to understand that, leaving out the proselytizing motive, they have a duty as followers of Christ to live out Christianity and make the Christian message known to all the brotherhood of men. Unitarianism in the old Arian form was as much missionary as was the Athanasian. The first translation of the Bible into a vernacular tongue was made by Bishop Ulfilas for the Gothic peoples, and the Gothic type of Christianity was Arian. It was also Nestorianism which in the seventh century carried the Gospel to Persia and China. It was a member of the family of Socinus who carried the Gospel in sixteenth century to Poland and Transylvania, and it was the same Socinian scholars who translated the Bible into the Polish tongue. The Unitarian Churches of Hungary are the descendants of...

Comparative Christianity: A Student's Guide to a Religion and its Diverse Traditions explores what Christians have in common and then works through the three major subdivisions of the faith: Eastern, Roman, and Protestant. Using categories common to many definitions of religion, each chapter employs the categories of belief, individual and group moral codes, ceremonies, and associations. The book is a good choice for a textbook on Christianity, for the general reader and/or the follower of other religious traditions who want to learn about the Christian faith. By reading this book, readers will have a fuller knowledge of what Christians, whatever tradition, have in common and what distinguishes one Christian group from another. Comparative Christianity is different than other similar books on the market. It includes groups normally ignored, such as the Coptic and Ethiopian Orthodox Christians and Mormon groups beyond the scope of the Salt Lake City Latter-day Saints community (including the recent Texas group at the center of a polygamy controversy). Also, Comparative Christianity includes a review quiz at the end of each chapter so that readers can see how much knowledge they have acquired. These quizzes may also be used by professors if the text is used in a course.
