The most recent of the Chrismon books was released in the autumn of 1971. It is recommended for beginners, intermediate, and advanced Chrismon workers. Beginners will find it a valuable supplement to the Basic Series because Chrismons for Every Day offers new construction methods for learners and complete and specific workshop guides and outlines. Intermediate and advanced workers as well as beginners will find detailed directions and patterns for miniatures in this book. In addition, any Chrismon maker will be interested in the more than thirty new patterns for medium and large tree decorations. There are crosses, monograms, and symbols-all combined in different ways-as well as a set of eight Chrismons, the Beatitudes. Ornaments vary from very easy to difficult to make. The main focus of Chrismons for Every Day, however, is on demonstrating inspirational uses for these Christian symbols throughout the year. Among the pictured suggestions for which patterns and directions are given are hangings, arrangements, mobiles, pictures, shadowboxes, wedding cake toppers, wreaths, and bookmarks. As with all the Chrismons books, complete interpretations for all the designs in this book are given. Since these Chrismons were developed in a few years after the last previous book, new materials and finishes which hobbyists will enjoy using make up some of the new designs. A number of the pictures of the finished Chrismons are in color. No Chrismon designs or patterns are duplicated in any of the Series.

Chrismons contains condensed interpretations of all the ornaments on the tree at the Ascension Lutheran Church in Danville, Virginia. Drawings and photographs illustrate the explanations for the theological symbols that inspired the first Chrismons made by Mrs. Francis Kipps Spencer in 1957. A uniquely beautiful explanation of the life and ministry of Christ using images and scripture to remind the reader of ancient symbols, flowers and abbreviations Christians have used to tell Christ's story for centuries.

An Advent Book of Days tells the stories of all the characters and creatures that make up the Christmas story, with daily prayers and reflections based on their experiences. Fully illustrated in colour, this rich seasonal companion combines the bible, history, art and legend to explore the story of the incarnation. For each day of Advent, we meet a character caught up in the drama of the nativity, from the archangel Gabriel to the ox and ass in the stable. We discover what their portrayal in scripture reveals about them, how they have been understood in history, what folk legends have accrued around them, and what their stories offer for faith and devotion today. This is a book to engage all the senses and the imagination, to be enjoyed slowly and to shed new light on the most famous and familiar story of all.

Beloved pastor Dr. Charles Stanley takes us back to our truest and best reason for celebration—the birth of Christ. By revisiting the people and events of that first Christmas, Dr. Stanley reveals the unique lessons that long-ago starry night offers to each of us today. Such timeless truths as . . . true peace and joy are found only in Christ, not in the things of this world; Christmas itself is undeniable evidence that God always keeps His promises; the Lord God not only lives and reigns, but He is intimately involved in every circumstance of our lives; and the perfect gift for us to give Jesus is the gift of our own heart. Christmas is a gift to everyone on earth. That gift has different meaning to God—Christ’s birth was His perfect plan that unfolded in His perfect time. This message is followed by a celebration of who Jesus is—God came down, reigning King, suffering Servant, Savior of the world—and the lessons learned through His birth from the perspectives of: Mary, the virgin mother Joseph, faithful and obedient servant of God the innkeeper who had no vacancy the townspeople who were indifferent to what was happening around them the wise men who, by faith, followed the star and brought gifts of genuine worship and adoration and Isaiah, looking for the wonderful counselor Christmas: A Gift for Every Heart is a highly designed Christmas gift book with beautiful callouts, Dr. Stanley’s own personal thoughts and memories, Scripture, and four-color photography. This will be a treasured gift for Advent and Christmas that will be read again and again.

In a fast-paced world full of distractions, spiritual practice can help us become more centered-more in touch with ourselves and others, more in touch with the world around us, more in touch with God. Sacred Pauses is an introduction to this more centered way of life. The author, a pastor in British Columbia, begins with her own longing for personal renewal. What would it take to feel renewed every day? Instead of waiting for a vacation to smooth out the tensions of life, instead of waiting until the end of the week to shed our weariness, what if we could take time out every day? Live a renewed life every day? Be refreshed by God every day? Sacred Pauses offers simple ways for readers to do just that. Each chapter explores a different spiritual practice-from the classic disciplines of Scripture reading and prayer to other creative approaches such as paying attention, making music, and having fun. With plenty of stories from real life and ideas to try, this book is personal and practical. Its flexible format is appropriate for personal use or in a group, every day or any time.
