When doing genealogy, cemetery records are one of the most valuable tools one can use. In some cases a headstone is the only record that a person even existed. Many families who didnt have obituaries published and who died when there was no formal death certificates issued, left a headstone inscription that was the only record of their dates. Over time many headstones become worn, damaged or missing. Since many of the stones were already worn or damaged when this record was started, transcription was sometimes difficult. All attempts were made to be as complete and accurate as possible. Individual cemetery records are listed in alphabetical order. Volume 1 includes: 10 Cambria County Cemeteries: Adams Twp.: Dunmyer Lutheran, Mount Hebron, and Mount Hope Cemeteries. Conemaugh Twp.: Locust Grove Brethren Cemetery. East Taylor Twp.: Rose-Mount Cemetery, Richland Twp.: Blough Family Plot, Wingard Cemetery. Summerhill Twp.: Mount Olive and Sherbine Cemeteries. Upper Yoder Twp.: Roddy Cemetery. 14 Somerset County Cemeteries: Jenner Twp.: Calvary Reformed, Hoffman Zion Lutheran, Hopewell U.M., Mount Zion Lutheran, OConnor Cemeteries. Ogle Twp.: Ogletown Brethren, Oldham-Crum Cemeteries. Paint Twp.: Hoffman and Seese Cemeteries. Shade Twp.: Buckstown Cemetery. Somerset Twp.: Millhouse and Weller Cemeteries. Stonycreek Twp.: Rayman and Zerfoss Cemeteries.

Brians purpose in compiling this information was not intended to be a complete record of all veterans in every cemetery, but to give the researcher a good idea of the people there and the regiments in which they served. The veterans are listed in alphabetical order for easy reference and show the veterans rank, company, regiment, birth/death dates as taken from the headstone, the cemetery name, and its location. Close to 2,000 veterans listed.
