This is the third book in the Italian Trilogy...'Cats Do Eat Spaghetti' is very interesting and entertaining experience about living with rescue cats and Italian culture in general.....In this delightful book about adopting feral cats that through patience and hard work become domesticated the fourteen chapters will make your heart feel better for having read them: The early chapters are set in the north of England and then in the county of Surrey. They then move abroad, to a couple of beautiful medieval villages on the shores of Lake Como in northern Italy, to where Paul and his wife emigrated in 1991. 'Cats Do Eat Spaghetti' includes the last twenty seven years of their relationship whilst living alongside not only their adopted indoor cats but also with the local feral cats that will evoke pleasure, sadness, sentiment and affection within the heart of the committed cat lover. As the story progresses it includes their sometimes problematic Italian neighbours, who are certainly not cat lovers. Some of them do however love cats, but in a divergent and alarming way and that is to eat them during the winter months as a roasted accompaniment to piping-hot-polenta. The book also embraces their daily association with the little darlings. Paul and his wife are not just surrogate parents they have dedicated their lives to the happiness and contentment of their cats. As an example of their devotion they allowed themselves a holiday five years ago. It was the first one they'd had for twenty years. This wasn't because of any misfortune or lack of funds but because they don't like having to be away from their babies for too long in case they fret. They only took the risk of seeing other parts of their adopted country because they found a couple of baby-sitters they could trust and who were prepared to stay in their house to look after their cats as well as they try to do it..

In 1949, Ruthie is a skinny, flat-chested, twelve-year-old tomboy with a metal front tooth living in the Washington Heights section of New York City. Its the most important year of her life; shes about to turn thirteen and move from her sheltered elementary school to a large metropolitan high school. She is frightened about leaving her tomboy life and frightened about confronting the world outside of the only places and friends she has ever known. Ruthie decides to start a diary that covers one year of her life and shares her innermost thoughts, feelings, hopes, and dreams. With humor and sensitivity, Spaghetti Rain speaks in the voice of a girl in that place and at that time. The reader is carried into the era through the songs, movies, radio broadcasts, and the daily lives of people. We dine in a famous night club, ice-skate at Rockefeller Center on Christmas Day, and experience the neighborhood shops, delicatessens, and movie palaces. The author describes Ruthies explosive father, her glamorous former showgirl aunt, her gossipy neighbors, and her loving mother. Secrets are revealed - her girlfriends escapes from Hitlers Europe, her grandmothers struggles - and at the end of her journey, Ruthie experiences both good and bad during a car trip to Miami. She and her family are turned away from an hotel because they are Jewish, she witnesses racial discrimination, but she also meets a boy on the beach and discovers first love. Finally, Ruthie realizes she has within her the courage to face whatever life has in store.
