Take flight with the Brotherhood of the Griffin—Richard Lee Byers’s most celebrated characters. Aoth and his band of mercenaries, the Brotherhood of the Griffin, are hired to put a stop to a disturbing series of ritualistic killings. While they manage to defeat the perpetrators, Aoth can’t seem to shake the feeling that there’s more to these mysterious murders than meets the eye. Still, he resists the urge to investigate. After all, it’s just business. Until an assassin’s knife almost finds a home between his shoulder blades, and Aoth finds himself tangled in a lethal web of intrigue. The Captive Flame features the return of popular character Aoth and his mercenary band, the Brotherhood of the Griffin, introduced in Richard Lee Byers’s trilogy The Haunted Lands. Deluxe, trade paperback packaging and Byers’s signature twisted plots make this a must-have for all true Forgotten Realms® fans.

This Collection contains four first in series novels from New York Times and USA Today Best Selling Author Tracey H. Kitts. Do you like werewolves and wizards? How about Dragon shifters and cyborgs? Into magic, witches, and cursed badass heroines? What if I throw in a sexy demon and a gargoyle? This Book Contains: Tales of Paranormal Alpha Males, Werewolves, Vampires, Wizards, Cyborgs, Witches, Curses, Monsters, Demons, Dragons, Magic, and More Frank and The Werewolf Tamer (Notte Oscura series Book One) Oriana's Curse (Bound by Blood series Book One) Red (Lilith Mercury, Werewolf Hunter series Book one) Love Me Hard (Tris Grima series Book One) Frank and The Werewolf Tamer This is Book One in the Notte Oscura series. Each book in this series is a standalone story with returning characters. Katherine has had a hard time finding work, mostly because she's a vampire. Turns out, people aren't clamoring to work with the undead. She goes to the massive theme park, Notte Oscura, as a last resort. What Katherine doesn't realize is, there's a lot more waiting for her than just a job. Oriana's Curse BOOK ONE (of four) Nicole Austin has just inherited a curse. She is the next in line to become a badass vampire slayer. The problem is, she must drink some magical blood for the curse to take hold, and the side effects aren't all pleasant. She was just beginning to develop a relationship with her neighbor, Max, who is also a sexy werewolf. However, what once drew her to him may now be reason enough to keep them apart. She can't hunt one monster and consort with another, can she? As if she didn't have enough to deal with, there is the matter of a werewolf hunter in town. His name is Vladislav. He's tall, dark, sexy, and obviously interested in Nicole. There are a few loopholes, but only one that might stop Nicole from being the next vampire slayer. True love, and she's got one month to find it. Warning: This series contains sex, graphic language, and graphic violence. It also has multiple (smoking hot) partners. There will be a happy ending. NOTE: This is only Part One and it ends on a cliffhanger. This is the first entry in the Bound by Blood serial that tells the story of Nicole Austin and her family's curse. These stories are meant to be read in order. Red This is Book One in the Lilith Mercury Series. Dr. Alfred Moody saved her life, but the werewolf, Marco may hold the key to her heart. She's torn between the man who saved her humanity and the one who makes her want to embrace the beast. There will eventually be multiple partners in this series. If that offends you, turn back now. NOTE: This series gets hotter as it goes. However, Book One is NOT erotic. Someday Lilith will have a happy ending, but this is only the beginning. Love me HARD From the USA Today Best Selling anthology, Taming the Vampire. This is Book One in the Tris Grima series. Vampire hunter Tris Grima is having difficulty finding those responsible for her mother's murder, and making her a vampire. With the help of her guardian/sexy gargoyle Hugh, she will begin to uncover the truth. Sometimes all you need is a hot gargoyle to help you find the way. Warning: This story contains one hard to resist gargoyle.

The Resurrection Plate, a Late Classic Maya dish, is decorated with an arresting scene. The Maize God, assisted by two other deities, emerges reborn from a turtle shell. At the center of the plate, in the middle of the god’s body and aligned with the point of emergence, there is a curious sight: a small, neatly drilled hole. Art historian Andrew Finegold explores the meanings attributed to this and other holes in Mesoamerican material culture, arguing that such spaces were broadly understood as conduits of vital forces and material abundance, prerequisites for the emergence of life. Beginning with, and repeatedly returning to, the Resurrection Plate, this study explores the generative potential attributed to a wide variety of cavities and holes in Mesoamerica, ranging from the perforated dishes placed in Classic Maya burials, to caves and architectural voids, to the piercing of human flesh. Holes are also discussed in relation to fire, based on the common means through which both were produced: drilling. Ultimately, by attending to what is not there, Vital Voids offers a fascinating approach to Mesoamerican cosmology and material culture.

Meet Anton Marivaldi—a renowned reaver with an insatiable thirst for bounty and a questionable moral compass Endless, pounding rain afflicts the Sea of Fallen Stars and the coastal regions surrounding it. Harvests are failing, travel and trade are disrupted, and civilized forces are giving way to the deluges caused by the storms. In panic and despair, many have turned to the goddess Umberlee, Queen of the Depths, offering her sacrifices with hope that they will be spared the inevitable reckoning of her perpetual tempest. Evendur Highcastle, an undead pirate captain who has risen from the depths to assume the mantle of Umberlee’s Chosen, takes advantage of the people's desperation to strike for both spiritual and temporal power in her name. Vying with Highcastle for the hearts and minds of the people is Stedd Whitehorn, a little boy and the chosen of a god thought lost to time: Lathander, the Morninglord. In a time of such upheaval, Stedd’s message of renewal and hope runs in stark contrast to the savage ethos of Highcastle and his waveservants. When Anton Marivaldi captures the boy in order to collect Highcastle’s considerable bounty, the reaver is quickly caught in the riptide caused by the sundering of worlds.

Visit us online at www.1stWorldLibrary.ORG - - In John Lyly's Endymion, Sir Topas is made to say; "Dost thou know what a Poet is? Why, fool, a Poet is as much as one should say, - a Poet!" And thou, reader, dost thou know what a hero is? Why, a hero is as much as one should say, - a hero! Some romance-writers, however, say much more than this. Nay, the old Lombard, Matteo Maria Bojardo, set all the church-bells in Scandiano ringing, merely because he had found a name for one of his heroes. Here, also, shall church-bells be rung, but more solemnly. The setting of a great hope is like the setting of the sun. The brightness of our life is gone. Shadows of evening fall around us, and the world seems but a dim reflection, - itself a broader shadow. We look forward into the coming, lonely night. The soul withdraws into itself. Then stars arise, and the night is holy. Paul Flemming had experienced this, though still young. The friend of his youth was dead. The bough had broken "under the burden of the unripe fruit." And when, after a season, he looked up again from the blindness of his sorrow, all things seemed unreal. Like the man, whose sight had been restored by miracle, he beheld men, as trees, walking. His household gods were broken. He had no home. His sympathies cried aloud from his desolate soul, and there came no answer from the busy, turbulent world around him. He did not willingly give way to grief. He struggled to be cheerful, - to be strong. But he could no longer look into the familiarfaces of his friends. He could no longer live alone, where he had lived with her. He went abroad, that the sea might be between him and the grave. Alas! Between him and his sorrow there could be no sea, but that of time.
