Excerpt from Buffalo Medical and Surgical Journal, Vol. 34: August, 1894, to July, 1895 During this our Columbian year we have given much of our attention to the times in which our great discoverer lived, the conditions that moulded him in his development, the motives and influences that impelled him to continue in his daring advance onward through the world of unknown waters to the land of his dreams. Now, let us, as men interested in humanity, in medicine, the healing art, consider the conditions which necessitated the establishment of this our benign mother, the Medical Department of Niagara University, the progress that has been made by her, and the motives which inspire the carrying on of her work. Excerpt from Buffalo Medical and Surgical Journal, Vol. 30: August, 1890, to July, 1891 Tucker Randt injected a substance (in the presence of Politzer) into the diploe of the mastoid process, and of the pyramidal por tion of the petrous bone, which at once entered into the sinuses of the brain. It has also been found that three-fourths of the abscesses of the brain are in the temporo-sphenoidal lobes. Fracture of this bone from gun-shot is almost always followed by a profound deafness of one side, but more rarely by contra-coup of the other side. A very severe blow on one side will at times be recovered from. The following is the statement of the case I now present, in a letter from the surgeon, Dr. D. P. Miller, of Huntingdon, Pa. I take the liberty of asking your Opinion of the following case, and whether or not you think it can be benefited. Excerpt from The Buffalo Medical and Surgical Journal, Vol. 20: September, 1880 Nearly every one adopts for himself some particular method and is inclined to hold tenaciously to it. It has occurred to me, however, during the past two years to treat at least eight cases in which the symptoms were so aggravated as to warrant the most radical measures in the event of the stricture not yielding to treatment, and the almost uniformly good results seemed to warrant attention being called to one or two details.
