Within each chapter each topic gets a page of text along with examples and a quiz. Most intermediate players have a working, but incomplete, knowledge of the various topics. This book will fill in the blanks, add new ideas to your bidding arsenal and significantly improve your bidding skills.

Beginners at bridge are taught rigid rules to apply to bidding, rules that involve point count, losing trick count and other evaluation methods. But they quickly discover that there are more situations where the rules don't apply than where they do. This book addresses a gap in bridge literature by discussing how to make decisions in the auction: when to be aggressive and when to pull back, when to take saves, when to double the opponents, and so forth. Filled with real-life examples, practical advice and helpful quizzes, this will help any reader become a better bidder.

In this book, Miles addresses the complex arena of competitive bidding methods for the more advanced player. He discusses current thinking, and recommends methods which will continue to be playable as bridge enters its second century. This book will appeal to fairly serious players only. There are two earlier books on this topic by the same author, 5 and 10 years old respectively, and therefore superseded by this new work.

This e-book present some of the most important bridge bidding systems used used in duplicate bridge tournaments, detailing the most known bridge bidding system, Standard American Yellow Card, by using a logical sequential order for openings, answers, competitive bids and defensive play in order to help the players during the games. Much of the complexity in bridge arises from the difficulty of arriving at a good final contract in the auction. A bidding system in contract bridge is the set of agreements and understandings assigned to calls and sequences of calls used by a partnership, and includes a full description of the meaning of each treatment and convention. Standard American Yellow Card is a specific set of partnership agreements and conventions, using Standard American as a base. Standard American Yellow Card is a very specific collection of agreements, which can, of course, be modified and augmented by partnership agreement. In practical use, the term is often mis-used to refer to Standard American in general, or it could refer to a system that used SAYC as a base and made additional augmentations or changes to the base agreements.
