A little giant learns to be brave with the help of a new friend, in this classic picture book from Florence Parry Heide, author of The Shrinking of Treehorn In a new edition, revisit this sweet, funny story of a giant finding his courage from Florence Parry Heide, author of The Shrinking of Treehorn and Princess Hyacinth. Illustrator Merrill Rainey puts a new contemporary spin on this fractured fairytale with his bright, playful cartoon style. Everyone is afraid of something, but Bigelow is afraid of just about everything–clouds, alphabet soup, baths. One day Bigelow meets a tiny woman who is afraid of HIM. Luckily, Bigelow is better at making friends than being a scary, and soon Mrs. Pimberly and Bigelow are eating pancakes together. Mrs. Pimberly is surprised Bigelowe is scared of so many things. Maybe if he acted more like a fierce giant and shouted “Fee Fi Fo Fum!” he wouldn't be so scared. Can these magic words really help Bigelow conquer his fear? The perfect storytime book for the child who needs a little help learning to be brave. Parents and grandparents will love sharing this touching but humorous reimagined classic, while kids will love roaring with Bigelow, “Fee Fi Fo Fum!”

Edited by Lionel Gossman, this volume contains three programmatic essays by Michelet. The first two are available here for the first time in English translation. The third, the Preface to the 1869 edition of the Histoire de France, originally published in its first English translation by Edward K. Kaplan in his Michelet’s Poetic Vision (1977), has been revised by the translator for this volume. One of the greatest Romantic historians and immensely popular during his lifetime, Jules Michelet (1798-1874) fell into disfavour among the positivist historians who came after him and who regarded his work with disdain as "literature." In the 1920s and 30s, however, he began to be rediscovered and rehabilitated by the members of the influential Annales school. The objects of Michelet’s interest—living conditions, popular mentalities, laws and the arts, the historian’s relation to the objects of his study, no less than political history—have since come to occupy a central place in modern historical research. A free online-only supplement contains an essay on Michelet by John Stuart Mill from the Edinburgh Review (January 1844) and several studies of Michelet by Lionel Gossman.

Skye Fargo takes on a circus swindler in the greatest showdown on earth… When a giant beast tramples a homestead and injures some settlers, Skye Fargo sets out to track the animal. But neither Skye nor the wilds of Utah could prepare for what they discover…an elephant! There’s only one explanation: Thaddeus Thimbletree and his traveling circus is in town. Skye returns the elephant, but his work is far from over. The too-trusting Thad has a heart of gold—and a treasure chest of gems. It’s a dangerous combination. Especially since Thad’s hired scout is a notorious backshooter. But Skye is watching his back and Thad’s. And with one hand on his gun, the Trailsman is not about to let this turn into a three-ring circus…
