Born Nude is philosophical poetry that explores myriad themes, from equality to humility and environmental consciousness. It is divided into chapters that pinpoint specific areas of interest. The author delves into human weaknesses and strengths based on nature and nurture. He invites the reader to contemplate the ephemeral nature of all things material, and how to nurture oneself into a higher order and loyalty of being human. The volumes satirical tone is critical of the destructive sterility of zero-sum games of superiority and dominance. It treats as anathema exploitation based on contrived hierarchies of gender, geography, politics and the geopolitik of the modern world.

As Perry Wintergreen, a three times divorced claims adjuster, searches for the root cause of his matrimonial disasters, he becomes entangled in a workplace sex scandal. Simultaneously, Perry perceives that the insurance company, where he has worked many years, has unjustly targeted him for forced early retirement. Meanwhile, he meets a widow who gives him solace, intimacy, and reenergizes his affinity for marriage. "I love you and don't want our children to witness us shacking up like this. Will you marry me? I want to be with you forever." Perry once again rolls the matrimonial dice-and again craps out. Subsequently, Perry feels that his thirst for commitment is quenched by yet another extraordinary romance. He proposes marriage, he hopes, for the last time. "I have to learn to love people as they are and stop trying to love them only on my terms will you marry me?" "Yes, I'll marry you, I'll marry you tomorrow if you want." "That's great! I'll make you a good husband." "And I'll always be honest with you." His fifth marriage-an unfamiliar paradise-ultimately challenges his deep-seated beliefs at its core.

My Gawd! and Other Stories by Fairbanksjust the one word, like Moses, like Prince. My Gawd! Is that allowed? Can you write that? If it was a film, it would be rated R: adults only. But not rated X by any means; this is not erotica. Thats the fun of the clever writing. Its fiction! It sometimes gets very close to the line, but then it backs off. There are only a couple of jolts in retrospect. Some stories have no sex at all. (Does sex between insects count?) This is a collection of thirteen short stories set out as one per month plus New Years. It is fun to take up the authors suggestion and read the last story first (and then again at the end). This tantalizing New Years story is written as a play, and the other one is a humorous narrative poem. The stories are full of interesting and varied charactersyoung, old, male, female, ordinary, eccentric, naughty, and nice. Settings include the authors backyard, Central Australia, other rural backgrounds, and Canberra. Each short story is different, holding the readers interest and moving along without dragging. There are no boring bits at all. There is poetry in the prose, touching descriptions of setting and character. Two of the stories are longer, giving the reader the chance to follow an interesting plot and the characters more fully. Watch out for the famous Fairbanks twist! Lots of marketing potential with this one! Put it on your bedside table and read one story a night for fun and for titillation. The next Fifty Shades? The naughty outback Aussies version. My gawd!

Sicilian proverbs are a pathway into the reality of Sicilian culture over the centuries. They are the voices of its people that ring true from generation to generation. The proverbs are an important sub-text of their conversation. Every segment of society is represented by the truth of the proverbs. The majority of the Sicilian proverbs in this collection were recorded by Dr. Giuseppe Pitrè (1841-1916) in four volumes of his twenty-five volume library of Sicilian folklore as he traveled the island tending to the sick in all walks of life. Tending the sick was Dr. Pitrè’s occupation, Sicilian folklore was Pitrè’s literary life. In his literary life he also edited The Archivio delle Tradition Popolari with his close friend and associate Salomone Marino. This English translation of his work makes the proverbs of the entire four volumes available to the English speaking world for the first time. The translation also includes about fifteen hundred Sicilian proverbs drawn from other collections.

Originally published in the European Journal of Psychoanalysis (EJP), the essays in this volume are a set of responses to the coronavirus crisis by distinguished philosophers and psychoanalysts from around the globe. The coronavirus irrupted making swift and deep cuts in the fabric of our existence: the risks of contagion and indefinite periods of isolation have radically altered the functioning of society. Pandemics do not wait for comprehension in order to proliferate. Confusion, sickness, and death punctuate the failure of governments worldwide to respond. This collection of writings examines the effects of the pandemic and the conditions that make possible such a global crisis. The writers provoke us to consider how capitalism, governmental power, and biopolitics mold the contours of life and death. The contributors in this collection ignite urgent political dialogue, address emergent transformations in the social field and offer perspectives on shifts in subjectivity and psychoanalytic practice. Beyond providing reflections on the impact of the coronavirus, the authors point to determinants of how the crisis will unfold and what may be on the horizon. This book will be invaluable to psychoanalysts, psychotherapists, philosophers, and to all those interested in the implications of the virus for psychoanalytic practice and theory, and the social, cultural and political spheres of our world.
