Marriage is a good institution in any society. The idea of two people coming together to form a union is brilliant. However, it is easy to get married but it is not easy to stay married. One obvious reason is the challenge of two different and unique individuals trying to live together under one roof and in one accord. This book is intended to be a blue print for a successful marriage. It is my heart desire to see married couples succeed. I have seen too many marriages failed in my life time. I have noticed several married couples struggle in their marriage even though both parties are good people. I have watched too many good people get hurt in their relationship and I have seen lives being messed up as a result of marriage failure. My natural instinct is to recognize the problem and fashion a solution to make our world a better place. That is why I am provoked to write this book. I am not a stranger to the marriage institution. I have been married for twenty four years and I have had my own share of marital challenges. More so, I am a Pastor and a Lawyer. In that capacity, I have conducted many marriage ceremonies, I have been a marriage counselor to hundreds of married couples and I have represented many people on marriage matters in the court room. In short, I have seen it all. I have seen the good, the bad and the ugly. Frankly, I am sick and tired of seeing too many people get hurt in their marriage and I really want to help. That is exactly what this book is all about. If you are looking for a practical, relevant and blunt book about marriage, this is it.

Women don’t feel comfortable telling a man what they wish he knew about dating. He’s expected to know it. Unfortunately, the only time men receive specific guidelines is when they’re being told what they’re notsupposed to do. As a result, very few know what they are supposed to do! What men want is a clear blueprint. Imagine how much simpler dating would be if women could just speak their minds! Therefore, Jason Evert surveyed more than a thousand women and asked them questions such as: · How would you want a man to ask you out? · How do you not want to be asked on a date? This book reveals their surprising answers, plus: · How to know if she’s the right one · Where women don’t want to go on a first date · What word they want a man to say when he asks · When, where, and how he should ask · What she hopes the date will include · How a man can save his marriage before he’s married Dating doesn’t need to become a relic of the past. It needs to be revived. For this to happen, men need to put down their screens, look a woman in the eye, and ask her on a date. The Dating Blueprint explains how.

Psychologist Larry Crabb cuts to the heart of the biblical view of marriage: the 'one-flesh' relationship. He argues convincingly that the deepest needs of human personality -- security and significance -- ultimately cannot be satisfied by a marriage partner. We need to turn to the Lord, rather than our spouse, to satisfy our needs. This frees both partners for 'soul oneness,' a commitment to minister to our spouse's needs rather than manipulating them to meet our own needs. With 'soul oneness' comes renewed 'body oneness,' where couples enjoy sexual pleasure as an expression and outgrowth of a personal relationship. The Marriage Builder also identifies three building blocks essential to constructing marriage: the grace of God, true marriage commitment, and acceptance of one's mate. Now for the first time, discussion questions have been added to aid couples who want to come to deeper understanding of marriage. Helpful to counselors and laypersons alike, The Marriage Builder is for anyone who longs to transform marriage from trial to triumph.

Just as Masters and Johnson were pioneers in the study of human sexuality, so Dr. John Gottman has revolutionized the study of marriage. As a professor of psychology at the University of Washington and the founder and director of the Seattle Marital and Family Institute, he has studied the habits of married couples in unprecedented detail over the course of many years. His findings, and his heavily attended workshops, have already turned around thousands of faltering marriages. This book is the culmination of his life's work: the seven principles that guide couples on the path toward a harmonious and long-lasting relationship. Straightforward in their approach, yet profound in their effect, these principles teach partners new and startling strategies for making their marriage work. Gottman helps couples focus on each other, on paying attention to the small day-to-day moments that, strung together, make up the heart and soul of any relationship. Being thoughtful about ordinary matters provides spouses with a solid foundation for resolving conflict when it does occur and finding strategies for living with those issues that cannot be resolved. Packed with questionnaires and exercises whose effectiveness has been proven in Dr. Gottman's workshops, The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work is the definitive guide for anyone who wants their relationship to attain its highest potential. The Seven Principles for Making Marriage Work is the result of Dr. John Gottman's many years of closely observing thousands of marriages. This kind of longitudinal research has never been done before. Based on his findings, he has culled seven principles essential to the success of any marriage. Maintain a love map. Foster fondness and admiration. Turn toward instead of away. Accept influence. Solve solvable conflicts. Cope with conflicts you can't resolve. Create shared meaning. Dr. Gottman's unique questionnaires and exercises will guide couples on the road to revitalizing their marriage, or making a strong one even better.

How are your children learning about intimacy? What are they seeing when they watch you interacting with your spouse? In a ground breaking approach to family dynamics, What Children Learn from Their Parents' Marriage shows how a child's perception of the marriage his or her parents have created is the key to his or her psychological development and ultimate well-being. Talking to both intact families and divorcing couples with children, marriage and family therapist Judith P. Sigel identifies seven essential elements of marriage that determine the emotional health of a child. By combining her own work with the most current research, Dr. Siegal presents an eye-opening and highly readable book -- one that offers illuminating insight for parents everywhere who wish to build the secure foundation their children need for an emotionally healthy future.
