Designed to empower preachers as they lead their congregations to connect their lives to Scripture, Connections features a broad set of interpretive tools that provide commentary and worship aids on the Revised Common Lectionary. This nine-volume series offers creative commentary on each reading through the lens of its connections to the rest of Scripture and then seeing the reading through the lenses of culture, film, fiction, ethics, and other aspects of contemporary life. Commentaries on the Psalms make connections to other readings and to the congregation's experience of worship. Connections is published in partnership with Austin Presbyterian Theological Seminary.

The chronology of prophetic events is detailed here in a manner that has never been outlined before. The events unfold one after another just as they are written in the Bible. The books of Daniel and Revelation, and passages from Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jeremiah, Zechariah, Matthew and Pauls epistles fit in to make the end time scenario very vivid. The timelines show what is about to happen. You will find the answers to questions such as: When is the rapture of the Church and the Second Coming of Jesus Christ? What connection has the current rise of terrorism with the last days? Is America in prophecy? Then you will read in detail the coming Gogs war against Israel and how GOD defends his chosen people. You will know the identity of the revived Roman Empire and find a new interpretation of the Great Tribulation. And finally, you will feel the drama of the return of Jesus, King of kings and Lord of lords.

To many Christians the Old Testament is a mysterious document, a treasure hidden in the dust of antiquity. It is historical, it tells the story of ancient Israel but has it anything to do with me? Seeing the Big Picture is the story of one man's voyage of discovery. The Bible as a whole is the dramatic story of redemption, which comes to a climax in the New Testament. In every book of the Old Testament the theme of the coming of Christ is there, burning brightly like a lamp in the darkness, heralding the day when the glory of the Christ would burst majestically forth. Suddenly I saw that this was truly one story. It was almost as if someone had turned a light on. I could see things much more clearly... and so many aspects of the New Testament study were brought into such clear focus that I understood as never before.

Both the introduction and the prophecy are saturated with allusions to Hebrew Scripture, which has been applied typologically to the situation at the time the documents were composed. Knowing the scripture involved is basic to understanding the message of the Book of Revelation. Buchanan shows the text of Revelation in one column and the relevant passages to Hebrew Scripture in a parallel column. He calls it redemption literatureÓ rather than apocalypticÓ and compares it to Jewish redemption literature composed during the period from the Bar Cochba Revolt to the end of the Crusades, and with redemption literature found in Isaiah, Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Zechariah, Haggai, Daniel, and some of the Psalms.
