This report presents a cost analysis of bio-based 1,4-Butanediol (BDO) production from glucose syrup. The two-step process examined is similar to Myriant/JM Davy process. BDO is produced via succinic acid intermediate produced from glucose fermentation. The process uses a 70 wt% glucose-water syrup as raw material and generates ammonium sulfate and tetrahydrofuran (THF) as by-products.
