The book is the first attempt in studiyng the energy consumption patterns of different economics sectors that present in the rural areas. Infact, data relating to the production and consumption of both commercial and non-commercial sources of energy in rural areas are quite scanty. This book aims to generate database, based on micro level study, carried out by the authors in six villages of Dindigul District, Tamil Nadu. A total of 534 samples from the entire sectors (200 from household, 22 from industry, 161 from transport, 86 from commerce and 65 from social and service) have been interviewed for gathering information on energy use in the economic sectors of the rural economy. This book is arranged into seven chapters. The first chapter provides a brief introduction, stating the objectives, the methodology, and the scope and limitations of the study. The second chapter examines the profile of rural energy and its development programmes in India. The third chapter describes the review and appraisal of literature. A background of the study area profile and its socioeconomic milieu is given in the fourth chapter. The fifth chapter brings out a detailed analysis on energy consumption in the selected six sectors of the rural economy. Major findings and integrated energy system (appropriate, viable and feasible) are presented in the sixth chapter.

Understanding Faults: Detecting, Dating, and Modeling offers a single resource for analyzing faults for a variety of applications, from hazard detection and earthquake processes, to geophysical exploration. The book presents the latest research, including fault dating using new mineral growth, fault reactivation, and fault modeling, and also helps bridge the gap between geologists and geophysicists working across fault-related disciplines. Using diagrams, formulae, and worldwide case studies to illustrate concepts, the book provides geoscientists and industry experts in oil and gas with a valuable reference for detecting, modeling, analyzing and dating faults. - Presents cutting-edge information relating to fault analysis, including mechanical, geometrical and numerical models, theory and methodologies - Includes calculations of fault sealing capabilities - Describes how faults are detected, what fault models predict, and techniques for dating fault movement - Utilizes worldwide case studies throughout the book to concretely illustrate key concepts

In America's arid southwest, climate change will occur in the context of already-keen competition for water for agriculture, urban growth, electricity generation, water-based recreation, and environmental protections. This book explores the challenges that climate change and variability pose for water and energy managers and users, communities, and policy makers in the arid Southwest and demonstrates the application of economic methods to address these challenges. It provides valuable tools for both those interested in resource management and climate change, and those seeking to understand how economic methods can be used to analyze contemporary social problems and craft appropriate responses. The book considers both adaptation to long-term climate change and more immediate issues of water and electricity management in the face of inter-annual climate variability and drought. Thus, no matter what one's perspective on long-run climate change projections, the book provides useful lessons for some of the region's most pressing resource management problems.
