The present book includes a set of selected papers from the Fifth International Conf- ence on Informatics in Control Automation and Robotics (ICINCO 2008), held in Funchal, Madeira - Portugal, from 11 to 15 May 2008. The conference was organized in three simultaneous tracks: Intelligent Control Systems and Optimization, Robotics and Automation, and Systems Modeling, Signal Processing and Control. The book is based on the same structure. ICINCO 2008 received 392 paper submissions, from more than 50 different co- tries in all continents. From these, after a blind review process, only 33 where - cepted as full papers, of which 18 were selected for inclusion in this book, based on the classifications provided by the Program Committee. The selected papers reflect the interdisciplinary nature of the conference. The diversity of topics is an important feature of this conference, enabling an overall perception of several important sci- tific and technological trends. These high quality standards will be maintained and reinforced at ICINCO 2009, to be held in Milan, Italy, and in future editions of this conference.

“Wealth without work Pleasure without conscience Science without humanity Knowledge without character Politics without principle Commerce without morality Worship without sacrifice. https://vidjambov.blogspot.com/2023/01/book-inventory-vladimir-djambov-talmach.html I was invited to expound the ideology of the Russian Christian Labor Movement at the Council of Bishops of the Russian Church Abroad, which was held in December 1937, chaired by His Eminence Metropolitan Anastasius. I complied. (My report on Russian ideology was heard at the Council of Bishops in August 1938. The conclusions of the report were adopted by the Council, and in accordance with this a council decree was issued. In addition, at the 1938 Council of Russian Bishops with the participation of the laity, some of the laity - members of the Council, representatives from dioceses in Yugoslavia and Western Europe, asked me to give them information about Russian ideology and, in particular, the justification of the tsarist autocratic power.) This prompted me to engage in clarification of the real issue, vital and so close to the hearts of Russian people, the fruit of which was my book: “Russian Ideology”. The first chapter of this book indicates that Russian ideology consists in the Orthodox faith and the life of a Russian person based on it in all its manifestations. This faith was assimilated by the Russian people from the time of baptism of Himself, as the main rule of life, which is evidenced by the fact that the most beloved books for reading Russian people, in addition to the book of life – the Bible – were the Lives of the Saints (The Minions of Minea). But especially the vitality of this faith was testified to by the holy monastic life in monasteries and the pious life of the laity, as evidenced by the countless churches in Russia and the church life of our ancestors, to whom they openly professed their faith - their great prayerful deeds both in churches and at home, their sincere deep repentance of sins and the purity of their Orthodox faith. The same chapter notes the marvelous protection and intercession that the Lord showed the Russian people for their devotion to the Orthodox faith and the desire for holiness, which is the same for life that is consistent with this faith. The second chapter of our book depicts another - the sad side of the life of the Russian people - their retreat from the Orthodox faith and, above all, through the assimilation of Protestantism. It is shown here that this retreat did not happen immediately, but gradually, starting with John III , from the time the Germans entered the Russian service. But especially devastating for Russia was the retreat from the Orthodox faith under Peter the Great. This misfortune was facilitated by his anti-church reforms, which brought about the breaking of the Orthodox faith itself. Particularly detrimental were the reforms in relation to monasteries with the selection of monastic and generally church property. As a result of this, the monasteries have lost their great significance as church educational centers in the life of the Russian people. Education and enlightenment were taken away from the Church and passed into the hands of the state and began to be conducted along the line of withdrawal from the Church and Her saving influence. To the retreat of the Russian people from the Orthodox faith was directed and personal behavior of Peter. Russia is a salvific ark, keeping afloat before the eyes of the mankind drowning in sin. What awaits Russia (our Motherland) in the apostatic world, what idea will unite the nation and who will lead this union? The works of the remarkable Russian hierarch - Archbishop Seraphim (Sobolev ; 1881-1950) "Russian Ideology" and "On the true monarchical world outlook" are devoted to the answers to these difficult questions . The Russian saint and theologian is deeply revered in the Slavic world not only as a man of deep intelligence and extensive knowledge, but also as a righteous man and seer, through whose prayers hundreds of miracles have been performed and are still being performed.

Tourists to Ouidah, a city on the coast of the Republic of Bénin, in West Africa, typically visit a few well-known sites of significance to the Vodún religion—the Python Temple, where Dangbé, the python spirit, is worshipped, and King Kpasse's sacred forest, which is the seat of the Vodún deity known as Lokò. However, other, less familiar places, such as the palace of the so-called supreme chief of Vodún in Bénin, are also rising in popularity as tourists become increasingly adventurous and as more Vodún priests and temples make themselves available to foreigners in the hopes of earning extra money. Timothy R. Landry examines the connections between local Vodún priests and spiritual seekers who travel to Bénin—some for the snapshot, others for full-fledged initiation into the religion. He argues that the ways in which the Vodún priests and tourists negotiate the transfer of confidential, sacred knowledge create its value. The more secrecy that surrounds Vodún ritual practice and material culture, the more authentic, coveted, and, consequently, expensive that knowledge becomes. Landry writes as anthropologist and initiate, having participated in hundreds of Vodún ceremonies, rituals, and festivals. Examining the role of money, the incarnation of deities, the limits of adaptation for the transnational community, and the belief in spirits, sorcery, and witchcraft, Vodún ponders the ethical implications of producing and consuming culture by local and international agents. Highlighting the ways in which racialization, power, and the legacy of colonialism affect the procurement and transmission of secret knowledge in West Africa and beyond, Landry demonstrates how, paradoxically, secrecy is critically important to Vodún's global expansion.

The main focus of Single- and Multi-Carrier MIMO Transmission for Broadband Wireless Systems is to provide the basic understanding of the underlying techniques related to PHY-MAC design of future wireless systems. It includes basic concepts related to single- and multi-carrier transmissions together with MIMO techniques. Discussions related to different recent standards that use single- and multi-carrier transmissions are also explained.Single- and Multi-Carrier MIMO Transmission for Broadband Wireless Systems provides a comprehensive and holistic approach to the variety of technical solutions. Future system design would require these different technologies to work together, and not independently. Therefore, it is very important to analyze the effects and gains when they are put together in a unified platform. This is the prime focus of this book. Moreover, the authors include recent research results which are not yet published in another form. The book is intended to be used for lectures in graduate level courses at universities. PhD level students should also find it useful as this book will outline the fundamental concepts and design methods for PHY and MAC layers of future wireless systems. This book can also be used as a reference by engineers and developers in the industry as well as by researchers in academia. For professionals, system architects and managers who play a key role in the selection of a baseline system concept for future wireless standards, such as IMT-Advanced type architecture, the authors will include discussions, analysis and guidelines to highlight overall system level perspective.

This Basel Core Principles (BCP) for Effective Banking Supervision Detailed Assessment Report has been prepared in the context of the Financial Sector Assessment Program for the People’s Republic of China–Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR). The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) supervises a major international financial center which was affected, though not significantly so, by the financial crisis. The HKMA is maintaining its commitment to the international regulatory reform agenda and is an early adopter of many standards. Supervisory practices, standards, and approaches are well integrated, risk based and of very high quality. There is one area in relation to the overarching legislative framework and powers which warrants further attention. The HKMA enjoys clear de facto but not de jure operational independence. There are two important cross border dimensions for Hong Kong as an international financial center. One is related to HKSAR’s significant position as a host supervisor. The second is the increasing importance of Mainland China in the current portfolios and prospects of the locally incorporated institutions, and indeed in the choice of HKSAR as a platform for overseas institutions to establish relationships with Mainland China.
