Twelve-year-old Esme’s life changes when she discovers dinosaur bones on her family’s peach farm in Texas. Fans of Wendy Maas and Lynda Mullaly Hunt will love this perfectly pitched story about friendship, family, and loss from Suzanne Crowley, the acclaimed author of The Very Ordered Existence of Merilee Marvelous. After her grandfather died from a heart attack while driving his tractor on Solace Hill, twelve-year-old Esme's been inextricably drawn to that spot, although her grandmother warns her to stay away. But when she follows her little brother, Bo, and her dog, Old Jack, up the hill while chasing fireflies, she makes an incredible discovery—dinosaur bones peeking out from underneath the abandoned tractor. The bones must be a message from her grandfather, a connection from beyond the grave. But when word gets out that the farm is hiding something valuable, reporters, researchers, and neighbors arrive in droves. Esme struggles to understand who has her best interests at heart, especially as the memory of her grandfather begins to slip away. Full of friendship and adventure, and featuring a palpable Texas setting, Finding Esme is a moving and heartfelt story about family, friendship, and learning to deal with loss. "He is the radiance of the glory of God..." - Hebrews 1:3The most glorious news in all of reality is that the God for whom we--and all things--exist is communicated to his creation with definitive authority in the incarnate Son (John1:14,18), and with climactic finality in the revelatory redemption of the cross (John 8:28, 17:1,5). Knowing and enjoying the One True God in the crucified and risen Jesus is the wellspring of our love (1 John 4:19), the substance of our sanctification (2 Corinthians 3:18), and the heart of eternal life (John 17:3), and this book is an attempt to help you do just that. "Full of Eyes" is a daily devotional containing 100 examples of visual exegesis. Each picture is designed to help you see, savor, and sing the beauty of God in his crucified and risen Son. As the Scripture in this book illuminates the pictures so that the pictures can shine back to exegete the Scripture, may you be ever more deeply enamored with the all satisfying excellence of who God has declared himself to be for us in Jesus.

This study provides a comprehensive analysis of representations of Holocaust perpetrators in literature. Such texts, often rather controversially, seek to undo the myth of pure evil that surrounds the Holocaust and to reconstruct the perpetrator in more human (“banal”) terms. Following this line of thought, protagonists frequently place emphasis on the contextual or situational factors that led up to the genocide. A significant consequence of this is the impact that it has on the reader, who is thereby drawn into the narrative as a potential perpetrator who could, in similar circumstances, have acted in similar ways. The tensions that this creates, especially in relation to the construction of empathy, constitutes a major focus of this work. Making use of in excess of sixty primary sources, this work explores fictional accounts of Holocaust perpetration as well as Nazi memoirs. It will be of interest to anyone working in the broad areas of Holocaust literature and/or perpetrator studies.

Lawrence D. Butch Morris (1947-2013) was an American jazz cornetist, composer and conductor, internationally considered one of the great musical innovators of our times. His interests in ensemble music--from avant-garde jazz to contemporary classical--crystallized into a unique method of real-time orchestral composition, which he called Conduction(R), designed to enable conductors to direct an ensemble. Morris toured the world, introducing Conduction to a varied community of musicians, and his influence extended into art, dance, poetry and cinema. The Art of Conduction is a theoretical introduction and practical guide to Conduction. During the last 10 years of his life, Morris worked to document his method in this book form; his untimely death left it near finished. Finally Daniela Veronesi, a linguist and longtime collaborator, brings his manuscript to completion.

Release: 2010-02
Genre: Fiction
ISBN: 9781426923173

An informative in-depth look at the lives of several extraterrestrials (E.T.'s), Extraterrestrial Biological Entities (E.B.E.'s ), and aliens, what their lives are like on their planets in their galaxies, what their spaceships are like, and how they are connected to us here on Earth. In addition, the book delves into how they are important to our religion and military strength. This novel also looks at some historical revelations, future predictions, and current happenings including an interesting collection of anecdotes regarding an ex-CIA agent who gets his wishes granted. It's the author's intention to, at the very least, bridge the gaps that exist between the religions of our generation. One gap is between our present long standing accepted knowledge of our concept of God, and our comprehensible real God. As well, a gap exists between how we are told we should interpret and demonstrate the meaning of God and how we show our faith and prove our belief in the living Creator. These are some things that the author thinks everyone needs to know about God, Satan, and UFOs. This book has been a long time in the making, twenty years, but somehow it still manages to remain ahead of its time, in most cases.
