The aim of this book is to study three essential components of modern finance – Risk Management, Asset Management and Asset and Liability Management, as well as the links that bind them together. The study of heavy-tailed distributions allows researchers to represent phenomena that occasionally exhibit very large deviations from the mean. Long gone are the times when investors could make decisions based on intuition.
